Proposition 187 is an anomaly against an otherwise solidly pro-illegal-alien voting record.

We also got rid of bilingual ed and racial preferences, both of which were supported by the pro-Illegal Alien lobby.

SB60 was heading for defeat in a referendum that would have been on the March ballot. Seeing that, the Dems afreed to rescind it.

Kindly note that the same electorate that passed 187 sent Feinstein back to the Senate, and re-elected local officials who have specifically forbidden their local law enforcement agencies from cooperating with the Border Patrol and INS.

Feinstein is middle of the pack against Illegals, better than a lot of Republicans in the House and Senate (Boxer is another matter).

In any event, neither has had to face a campaign where Illegals were a major issue, as GOP Senatorial candidates have been mealy-mouthed on the issue since 1994.

So far Bill Jones has talked a good game on Illegals, despite a rather flat delivery. It will be interesting to see how high a profile he takes on Illegals against Boxer, and if GOP leadership runs away from him if he does.

If Jones takes it to Boxer and the leadership doesn't wimp out, we should be able to take her seat.

I'd ordinarily take you a wee bit more seriously, but she was one of the first local leaders to forbid local law enforcement from cooperating with the BP/INS; that is now de rigeur across much of California. That means that she has a lot of mea culpa-ing to do on this topic, and the oddball vote on one minor point or another of the illegal alien problem is not nearly enough. She started the flippin' avalanche. Finally, most of her efforts "against illegal immigration" boil down to passing out more federal money to California to defray the costs of the illegal immigration she's encouraged.
