Bar hopping and employment by the way don't parse out the same. In any event, it all comes down to an ID and other documentation, including a SS number, punched into a national data base, that would take heavy lifting to defeat. How do we identify anybody who is illegal by the way, if this is all impossible?

I don't think in this high tech age document fogery would work, if we were serious. I stand by my comment, that sweeping will backfire politically.

The imposition of the type of documentation you'd have to require would be more onerous on citizens and legal residents than refraining from sweeps would be on Illegals.

Who's breaking the law here?

How do we identify anybody who is illegal by the way, if this is all impossible?

Day laborer stings. Cross referencing the IRS and DHS when fake SocSec numbers show up. Lots of ways.

I'm OK with looking at some form of national ID, but not if the Illegals are further coddled.

In a Torie regime, Freepers who employed illegals with mens rea, and it would be hard in a Torie regime to employ illegals, without mens rea, would go to jail, and pay a hefty fine, that would together make it economically silly to just do it.

Thanks, and it's with mens rea.
