After being inundated with calls from L.A. listeners, Asa Hutchinson has agreed to go on the show. He's on right now, so be there or be square. Will try to type the good stuff while I listen.
Damn right I am.
Can't help it if you and your heores(John and ken) refuse to criticize your Senators, Feinstein and Boxer.
John and Ken are local broadcasters and they generally stick to problems that have a local effect. I know that John hates Boxer and has called her every name in the book over the last 12 years. But right now the issue is illegal aliens in southern California. The Senators can't do anything about it because the laws are on the books already. The problem is that Bush and his administration are too chicken to enforce the law.
So John and Ken are going against those with the power to change things. Right now the person with that power is Isa Hutchison. If Boxer were in the position to enforce the law, these guys would be on her like white on rice.
Very mixed feelings. (Full disclosure: I haven't heard TODAY's interview.)
Overall I like John & Ken. When they have a liar on the air with them, no one is better at cutting through the crap. You've heard of heat-seeking missiles? These guys are bulls*it-seeking missiles.
But.
Their political views are a little bit Swiss for my taste, on the issue of "should we be taking this (or any??) action overseas." That leads them to take oppose our efforts in Iraq.
As you rightly point out, I have yet to hear them say boo to Feinstein or, incredibly, Boxer about those senators' liberalism. (I think they give Fein a pass because she took a good stand on the Deputy David March's Killer Extradition From Mexico issue. But Boxer??)
And, as others have noted, their rudeness is legendary. Often quite entertaining, but ... they're rude and cry "SPINNING" even when the guest ISN'T trying to spin.
Correct. It was not something you would expect in a salon (drawing room).
It is, however what you would expect from a functioning free press.
Talking about one group of 12 agents, who did some interior raids and deported 400 people.
Asa called them off, saying the raids might be illegal.
It is ridiculous....what we really need is LAPD, LASD, CHP and all the other agencies to start deporting instead of kicking them loose like they do now.
You've got a tranparent agenda."I Dane, take this adminstration, to be my awfully wedded wife. To defend and protect. To love and to cherish, until illegals have taken control of California. So help me George".
DHS told KFI they were not welcome at Homeland Security press conferences....
>>>Then how come they aren't taking either Feinstein or Boxer to task, since they are medding in Homeland Security.
FYI. The entire interview will be repeated during the 6:00 hour after Dennis Miller's appearance. Then John is going to go through the two amnesty plans, Kerry's and Bush's, "which will make you sick" (according to John).
Well, the laws are on the books already, yes, and it's the admin's job to enforce them. But it doesn't follow that "the Senators can't do anything." Hooo boy is THAT ever not true. Even one Senator, let alone two acting in concert, can get a hearing going, get press attention focused on an issue, marshal staff, get phone calls answered (by Hutchison, among others), etc. Even the dumbest of Senators (.... Barbara, I'm looking in your direction) can do all of these things to help "encourage" the administration to "re-order its enforcement priorities." Heh. And I wish Di and Barb would do so ... and that John & Ken would harangue them if they don't.
I'll be listening on my drive.
Did John call him "Assa" or Asa?
Will you or John and Ken ever have the cajones to criticize Feinstein and Boxer.
I thought the immediate short-term complaint was that existing Border Patrol officers in CA were stopped from interior raids. Hutchinson seemed to change the subject.
I saw the cut of Asa's jib when he gave Vernon Jordan a pass during the impeachment trial.
Actually, no.
The first.
It was ineffective and unprofessional. Check out a Hugh Hewitt or Michael Medved interview some time. John is a shock jock and he made you and your important cause into an ugly spectacle. The vital illegal immigration issue was marginalized.

Actually, he did that consistently throughout the interview. Listen over the internet if you can when they repeat in about an hour. You must hear it, it's unbelieveable. What a tap dance, he makes Clinton look like a piker.
It is pretty effective to me. I don't know where you live, but I bet it isnt 63% hispanic like my neighborhood.
