Yet another police officer victim of illegal aliens.

Illegal alien Ipolito Campos was sentenced September 17 to 22 years in prison for the attempted murder of Virginia State Trooper Howard A. Chambers in February. Officer Chambers suffered nerve damage and still has 25 pieces of metal in his body from Campos' sawed-off shotgun. The crime occurred when the FBI raided Campos' apartment on a tip that he had threatened to poison the water supply. Prosecutors argued that Campos should have been sentenced to a term longer that federal.

So the CA's passing of Proposition 187 several years ago doesn't even count for a 'blip on the radar?" This proposition restricted state services for persons who entered the state illegally. It has been held up and nullified through various court cases, but this was more than a 'blip' on the radar.

How about the recent proposition which passed requiring English Immersion in the schools, resulting in a shift away from bilingual education? Was that not a blip? Was that not unrelated to illegal immigration?

How about the role the "illegal immigrant driver's license bill" had here in the recall of Governor Davis and the protests and petitions last year on both sides of this issue?

Are none of these a "bleep on the radar?"

It looks like Dems Baca and Capps, or at least Baca are the politicians who are requesting that these sweeps stop. In the above quote, Baca states that Hutchinson RESPONED to him.

Has John and Ken talked about Baca? Has John and Ken invited Baca on the air? Has Baca come on the air?

Almost 500 replies on this thread and not one person mentioned the politician name Joe Baca.

Why is that?

Dear Mr. Hutchinson,

While I didn't catch the whole interview, I must say that I was disappointed in the part I did listen to.

It seemed to me that you did not have any answers to the questions asked of you, specifically regarding the number of illegals caught in California. That, in my opinion, should have been right at your fingertips. The situation here in California is going to reach a boiling point soon, if the government does not begin to do its duty to uphold the laws. I really feel bad for people who are encouraged by their own countries to break another country's laws just to survive as human beings, but enough is enough!

Besides the number of illegal aliens requiring services such as health care, emergency housing, food stamps, and other programs...we have another issue to deal with. Aztlan, meCHa, and La Raza are under the mistaken impression that California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas actually belong to Mexico. They are becoming rather belligerent, hence my comment about "boiling point". You don't really expect Amercian citizens to put up with this nonsense indefinitely, do you sir?

I hope that you have an opportunity to read not only my email, but also everyone else's. It is in everyone's best interest that you all understand our level of frustration.

So, in your humble opinion, what should be done about this influx of illegal immigrants across our Mexican border? Or, is this even a problem as far as you are concerned?

The answer to #1 is that I don't know. I wish I did. Some punishing of employers who knowingly (aye, the rub) hire illegals and some returning of them across the border would help. That silly interpretation of the 14th amendment that makes anybody born on this soil a citizen has got to go. But these will have have limited effect and noone should ever expect a miracle on this account. The easiest way to solve this is to (*gasp*) trade with Mexico to make their economy less anemic.

The answer to #2 is yes, but . . . After 9/11, the main concern is with people who scream "Death to America!" in Arabic and not those who whisper "¿Donde está el trabajo?" One of the problems with this is that overstaying the Visa is the easiest way of avoiding detection. Get a Visa, come to the US and get lost. How is anybody going to find you? Especially if somebody else is paying for you to live? The INS has life-and-death issues of a grand scale to deal with now and I am happy that they can devote any time at all to Mexican immigration.

But I do not have to come up with a solution. I am not the one who is calling switchboards to feel good about myself. I am not projecting a vast societal problem onto one bureaucrat with respect to one issue. You are the one who doesn't like what Hutchinson has done, so you are the one who has to tell him what to do. I have a bigger picture in mind and, believe it or not, I have better things to do than to get spammed by zealots who cannot see the forest for the trees.

Or the branches.

Georgia:

Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez admitted to falling asleep and running his Oldsmobile into the family car belonging to the Inman family of Woodstock, Georgia, as it sat at a stoplight. Harrell-Gonzalez' speedometer was stuck at 62 mph, and the crash was very powerful, killing 16-year-old Dustin Inman instantly and seriously injuring his parents Kathy and Billy. Kathy was permanently crippled and remains in a wheelchair.

After the accident, Harrell-Gonzalez, an illegal alien, complained of stomach pains and was taken to a local hospital without being arrested. He escaped from there and remains at large, wanted for vehicular homicide, serious injury by a vehicle and reckless driving.

Do you understand those of us in California who are SICK of paying for the schooling, medical care, food stamps, free breakfasts and lunches, assisted housing, and incarceration of illegal aliens? Doesn't it bother you that our system is being virtually raped of jobs for American blue collar workers? Do you understand our anger at politicians who ignore the majority of their constituents on this matter? Don't you think that immigration laws should be enforced?

If Vicente Fox wants his people to come here, it is Mexico who should pay the bills, not us, and no illegal alien should take a job from an American citizen.

Have they ever addressed this issue? It seems to me that the people of California are either supportive of or indifferent to illegal immigration by their choice of representation.

The Bush/Kemp/Bennett wing of the GOP has done everything in their power since 1994 to insure that we never have a choice.

California Republicans who oppose Illegals are routinely undercut by the RNC.

It will be interesting to see if Jones goes after Boxer on the issue.

If he does, he'll win.

How badly does Karl Rove want that Senate supermajority?

How badly does President Bush want his judicial nominations approved?

Badly enough to stop appeasing the Illegal Alien lobby?

The party leaders have very little control of anything these days. No smokey rooms anymore. All you have to do is run for your party's nomination. That's it. No one can stop you.

If Jones could win California by opposing illegal immigration, then an outspokenly anti-illegal candidate would have easily won the GOP nomination and would be cruising to victory over the stupidest member of the Senate.

Methinks you overestimate your fellow Californians.

Candidates in California clearly don't reflect the clear, anti-Illegal Alien record of the voters here, since 1994.

I've put forth that the problem starts with the Bush/Kemp/Bennett wing and the RNC, and it started when the three of them opposed Prop #187 in 1994.

I've shown that the CA electorate is not Illegal-friendly, since 1994.

There have been no clear anti-Illegal GOP candidates since 1994.

The GOP has stunk up the ballot with weak, loser candidates since 1994.

The irony of it all, is that in the long term, the influx of Hispanics if controlled and limited to manageable numbers is a huge plus for the US. But the US should be able to choose who comes, and by the rules, and not allow the numbers to get out of hand. The chat about de facto amnesty has pushed the tipping point beyond the manageable to the unmanageable. That is my judgment call. And in this rather dangerous time, with so many who have come to really hate America (admittedly that is a different ethnic group or groups by and large but the point still obtains), I really want to know who is here and why. Is that too much to ask?

You oughta see Arizona's Proposition 200, formerly known as the Protect Arizona Now initiative. We learned a lot from Cali's Prop 187 -- and didn't make the same mistakes.

Just to make matters more interesting, the gentleman leading the Prop 200 effort is Randy Pullen, Arizona's lead delegate to the Republican National Convention. Things are going to get interesting.

Hector Frausto escaped October 28 from a Raleigh, NC, jail. The illegal alien was being held on charges of statutory rape and kidnapping an 11-year-old girl in 1999 from a bus stop on her way to school.
