I don't doubt that there are some who have a racial agenda as far supporting the confederacy is concerned. However, after my own research and interaction with people, there are plenty of racists who support the American flag. I'm sure that you know the British outlawed slavery before the United States, and that alone doomed the slave trade to the US so the WBTS just hastened the inevitable.
I will submit to you that the only places where slavery disappeared were the nations dominated by western european christians. Hence, that's why you see slavery continued to this day in muslim run countries.

I partially agree. Racism isn't limited to neo-confederates. Nor is it limited to white people as every race has it's bigots. I would disagree about the embargo dooming slavery as I would compare the modern laws against drugs. Drugs are illegal too but that doesn't stop their import. With the Confederate constitution guaranteeing slavery, it became institutionalized and government protected.
Although actual open slavery ended with the civil war it continued in a modified form with Jim Crow for another hundred years. Even today you find instances of slavery here with immigrants being held and forced to work for no pay. This has been reported in numerous papers, usually with the Asian communities. Although not legal, it is still slavery.
