"I see, -- you objected to being styled by Long Cut as a religious "conservative" then? -- Last time I checked conservatives advocated using tax money for only essential government business."

No, I don't object to being termed a "religious conservative" at all. I consider that a high compliment.

Who did you check with? Did they list what they considered to be "essential government business"? Is there a difference between what you think of as "conservatives" and "religious conservatives"?

Yes there is a huge difference. Traditionally conservative on FR meant "constitutionally conservative" i.e. almost libertarians in views believing in the framework our forefathers had laid in that document. Religious conservative means someone's view of what God would have being enforced on everyone else regardless of their religious views. The opposite of religious freedom. Taliban like.

Well understand that I'm defending taxes in the context of those who call all taxes theft.

You are also defending the concept that we should use taxes to fight prohibitionary 'wars', on porn, drugs, -- or whatever 'sin of the day' strikes your fancy. Can you admit that?

Absolutely. I am for the war on drugs and I would support a war on porn, too.

I see, -- you objected to being styled by Long Cut as a religious "conservative" then?

But you objected to Long Cuts comment. Why?

Who did you check with? Did they list what they considered to be "essential government business"?

I checked the Constitution itself, and I just can't seem to find where Congress is authorized to fund prohibitionary wars. Can you?

Is there a difference between what you think of as "conservatives" and "religious conservatives"?

I've always said there shouldn't be.. I think constitutional conservatives should leave religion out of politics. That's the American way, imo.
