Do you have an opinion whether drunkenness in the privacy of one's home should be illegal or not?

If drunkenness causes you to beat your wife then there is a big problem. Drunks lose their licenses to drive when caught drinking and driving. Is that unfair, even if the drunk hasn't injured anyone?
