As for Hatfill and the anthrax, I generally accept the old 'Great Satan' theory that Hatfill is just a lightning rod, put in place so that the national-security strategists could decide what to do about the anthrax threat in secret.

I was wondering about that possiblity for a long time, but Hatfill is now suing Kristof, which would seem to be an indicator otherwise.
