My pet theory is that the Libyan nuclear program was a sting, aimed mainly at Iraq, and that the back-and-forth on Iraq, Niger, and African uranium emerged from the attempt to keep this hidden. As for Hatfill and the anthrax, I generally accept the old 'Great Satan' theory that Hatfill is just a lightning rod, put in place so that the national-security strategists could decide what to do about the anthrax threat in secret.
I was wondering about that possiblity for a long time, but Hatfill is now suing Kristof, which would seem to be an indicator otherwise.
date ping!!!

"Walton gave federal officials and investigators until April 22 to solve the anthrax case. If they don't, he indicated he will likely allow Hatfill's suit to move ahead."
Only 19 days to go until the FBI come up with their latest "Top Ten reasons to delay the lawsuit for yet another 6 months".
(10) Ed Lake just told us Bob Stevens couldn't have died because nobody else got sick.
(9) We've narrowed it down to 537 different labs in 36 nations worldwide. Can we have 6 more months?
(8) We're still waiting to find out who Hatfill called on his cell phone on September 18, oh and April 6, 8 and 9 too, when he was in Florida.
(7) So far we've found out that the killer didn't make the anthrax using Nebraska tapwater in August. We just need more time.
(6) We just got a hot tip from scientifically illiterate retiree in Racine, WI that the killer works in a bowling alley.
(5) Anthrax schmamfrax.
(4) We still think that turtle trap was a portable bioweapons lab.
(3) He was an avid outdoorsman and he drank from a stream.
(2) We have a new theory that the anthrax had a coating of silica - we think that provides a clue we hadn't considered before.

(1) Meselson just told us all the victims died from eating contaminated sausages.
ROFL, good one, I'll have to keep my eyes open. No doubt Ed Lake's well-placed inside sources tell him that great progress is being made on the investigation and that a big breakthrough in the case is coming any day now.
Well, the FBI is now down to just one day left to solve the "Amerithrax" case. I'm literally breathless with anticipation waiting to see who the Feds are going to frog-march into the courtroom in handcuffs for a plea heaing. The mind simply boggles with speculation! Who will it be?
Is Richard Jewell available?
I'm sure Ed Lake will have a satisfactory explanation on why the pending arrest had to be delayed until after April 22. They must just need a few more weeks to tie up a few loose ends. Then we'll have an arrest, yep, just a few more weeks, maybe even days.
I wonder how many total copies of his book Lake has sold so far, and how long it'll be before he gets tired of reporting on all the great progress the government is making in their investigation and just decides to go back to studying fake photographs of nude celebrities.
I seriously doubt he's sold any copies of his book outside of a few fringe loonies who read his website. I think he needed to sell 800 copies to break even on what he paid the book-binder. I doubt he'll make 1% of that target.
According to the clerk at Judge Walton's court the hearing in Hatfill Vs. Ashcroft is on-going at this very moment.
The number for the clerk is 202 354 3000.
