Geez, if I wanted to, my kids could be "Socialized" 7 days a week. I have to assume that because this person calls homeschooling an "unpopular decision" and thinks that homeschooled kids sit around the house and watch tv, he doesn't know many homeschoolers.

Maybe he is dealing with just Catholics. Catholic homeschooling is just begining to take hold since the price of tuition is almost unaffordable for the average family.

Homeschooling is only recently getting wider attention as an alternative to publik skool. It is still generally fair to say it's an unpopular decision for that reason. The general attitude was indeed that those kids were somewhat isolated.
He says absolutely nothing about homeschool kids sitting around watching TV. In fact, I'd say the article has an overall positive view of conservative families, and homeschooling.
