In 88 and 89 I lived in South Africa with my family. My housekeeper came to understand that we were Americans, only there for a short time, and were not involved in local politics. She imparted a great deal of interesting information to me, such as she would vote however her chief told her to if she ever got the vote. She also said that the ANC had promised her mother the home the mom worked in, after the Revolution and after the whites were all killed.
