You want to hear some REAL news out of Africa ? Last week, my s-i-l's sister told us that the government is taking over the area where the VOORTREKKERS MONUMENT is ( it's in Pretoria)and are knocking it down. It was not only a national monument to whites, but also to blacks and history, factual history, made art. This was a HUGE tourist attraction.It made money FOR all of SA!
The same thing is happening in the U.S. -- schools and such are being renamed because the original names were those of slaveowners, such as Thomas Jefferson. Confederate monuments are quite literally under attack. The Custer National Park was renamed Little Big Horn National Park.
They've been renaming everything they can, for years, in SA. The actual DESTRUCTION of a national monument, which also praised some blacks, is something else again.
