I am alive breathing fresh air. Such a fact is one reason for optimism. Perhaps it indicates that you have the wisdom to enjoy the moment. Or you may mean that the very fact that you live means that you can modify the direction of events.
In either case, my view of the progression of developments remains as it was - though I share the state you mention above.

Here's a pertinent question: how big is the South African Communist Party? If it gets 1% or 2% of the vote, I can't see it being much of a threat, if it's getting 30%+ then this really could be serious.

I could have a more grim view of people in general, but it wouldn't get me anywhere. I've had some pretty bad experiences but I'm still alive. I can look at things going on in the world but God's in control not me. I'd like to see things improve in Africa, but it'll get worse before it gets better.
