An American Airlines pilot flying passengers from Los Angeles to New York asked Christians on board to identify themselves and then suggested that non-Christian passengers discuss the faith with them, the airline confirmed Saturday.

The pilot, whose identity was not released, had been making flight announcements before he asked that the Christians on board raise their hands, said American Airlines spokesman Tim Wagner.

I hope when you go to Hell the Lord tells you how many souls you led astray today through your osbtinate idiocacy masquarading as evangelism. Im gone you're worthless. May your version of Hell will be for 72 Islamists to constantly be evangelising you throughout eternity.

The first amendment to the BOR guarantees the free "exercise" of religion.

Indeed it does. Your right to so exercise is limited by my right to not have to listen to you do so. I cannot avoid you in an airplane at 30000 ft.
So, -- either you shut up or you are creating a distubance of the peace.. Get it?

Exercise by its very nature implies a vigorous and open discussion of same.

Not in an airplane, where I am forced to listen to your 'vigor'..

For those who advocate the removal of religious ornamnets and the placement of religion behind closed doors to protect their right not to be offended, I can only laugh.

You'll laugh all the way to jail, if you're ever assigned the seat next to me, and start preaching uncontrolably.

These jokers would have shied away from signing the Mayflower Compact or Declaration of Independence for fear of offending the king! Glad our country was founded on men of principle, rather than the spineless that now inhabit its ground.

What a ridiculous comparison.... All people desire to be free, not all people desire to be Christian.

Paine I would never force you to listen to me speak on any subject matter.

But I must admit to an unChristian like desire to see you make me shut up.

Until that day arrives.

Cheers.

First off, my pilot husband says this was inappropriate. The pilot is a representative of American Airlines, and as such should keep his personal views personal.

Second, the pilot should be spending his energies making sure all the switches and dials are switching and dialing the way they should and that all blinking lights are the right colors. (And look out for the steady, red, "master caution".)

Third, what if he had said all republicans raise your hands so you can share the truth with your fellow democrat passengers? There would be a riot in the back of the plane.

'Ever read "God is My Co-pilot?"'

Close enough. I saw the license plate.

My father had one of those license plates and I asked him, "Shouldn't it be "God is My Pilot"? He kinda nodded and when out and got one that said just that.

As and aside, I once saw a bumper sticker that said "God used to be my co-pilot, but we crashed in the Alps and I had to eat him."

Paine I would never force you to listen to me speak on any subject matter.

You still don't 'get it'.. You couldn't do so anywhere..

But I must admit to an unChristian like desire to see you make me shut up.

On the airliner, the crew would supposedly shut you up if you were ranting uncontrollably. -- If they refused --- [or, as this idiot pilot did, urged you on], then I would do it myself..

Until that day arrives.

Bring it on.. Next time you fly, start preaching, - loudly, right after takeoff..

I've picked through many of the posts in this thread. Having said that, I find it most interesting that you have been continually posting in this thread since 11:07 AM in your time zone (EST) (your profile page shows that you are in Michigan) up until the present time.

Don't most Protestant demoninations have divine services on Sunday mornings? Are you Freeping from church today?

Fish Hawk,
You are so right! I have another elderly lady client with the opposite personality from the sweet one. This one is all piss and vinegar. When she goes to the DMV or to the dog pound and hears the words "Can't, those are the rules." she's ready to take a run up to Sacramento to protest. She said to me the other day, "The end of this country is near because these young ones aren't raised to fight and holler the way we were. They just go along with everything. They just accept these rules."

JW is a licensed Air Marshall. While I'm SURE he couldn't ethically be the one to arrest you, I have no doubt some of his 'friends' could and would.

Not at all.. But its quite evident that you do.

Would you elaborate?

Sure, -- here is one of your typical posts on this thread:

Right on Brother. Lets both pray they see the light. Debate with the Godless is even more difficult than with liberals.

Here you are, berating your peers as "Godless"..
You obviously have a problem with following the teachings of your own god & religion.
