Vern, I think you are feeling convicted and defensive. I don't agree with Mom on a number of issues but, if she is anything she is zealous for the Lord. Granted, we all get a little testy when the sword cuts. Nevertheless, we all need to examine ourselves regularly, no? BTW, I mostly hear that scripture (judge not lest ye be judged) quoted by backsliders.

ROFL...Don't kid yourself, you are as totally wrong on this as the the angry and aggressive Calvinists on this thread are. I have nothing to be convicted about related to anything on this thread. There is no "sword" cutting, though I hear it being twisted and shamed by irresponsible and inappropriate application.

Your comment about "judging" in uninformed, and since "proof texting" seems to be popular, read the following carefully - and understand it was Jesus speaking:

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
