Dang them all to heck too!!
I'm pessimistic about the chances of turning the ship around.
More than half the country already recieves federal subsidies in the form of a government SS check, welfare, a government job, a farm subsidy, a corporate subsidy, a grant, etc...
Ain't none of 'em interested in stopping the feed corn.
It won't stop till it breaks.
But that's where the optimism comes in.
