I bet I know exactly where that is! Was it owned by like one guy with a house just off the road and the pigs back in the back?
My friend is the husband of my best friend and he was the ag teacher in Lampasas for a long time. He used to take me to the pig farm to pick out pigs for his FFA students.
The smell never bothered me...hmmm...

There was a pig farm in Eastern Washington that was right in our practice area at flight school. We could smell it from 4-5,000 feet.
But that would be true at any large-scale farm.

You know, I just believe that if you have an animal, you should treat it humanely. Putting a pig in a pen for all six of it's months just seems inhumane to me.
Hmmm...gonna run a search...

We're always up to something. Today is a debate over favourite cartoon characters. Ruthy goes for Daffy Duck Dodgers. I'm rooting for Snoopy :-)

Good Morning, WN. Yes, I did make it out of bed before noon. I tried not to, but it didn't work....anyway got the doctor apportment from hell today... you know the paper dress scene.
Ugh..need prayer and some of that Athtlas.
Now on to good fun and laughs...our beloved dear Mr. Flat Frodo....
Yes, we could diff. do the "Waltzing 'cross Texas" with Flat Frodo scene. Is Alkhin near us here in "Hell Town USA" aka Houston?
My oldest daughter has some ideas we could do with FF that would may help diversify his activities in the "Lone Star State". You know Texas...it's big, but much of it is the same. Or maybe I've been here too long. Forgive me I'm whining (with cheese) and I am starting get on my own nerves. Soooo...
I guess at this point just work us in where it is best for the Flat Frodo Texas Two Step or three or four, whatever...and we will do our best to make him feel right at home.
If any of Terry's calls come up that could really be funny like Los Alamos and Irvine, maybe ya'll could just ship him to me for a day or so for a quick shoot. Just work me into the schedule.
I'm so Excited! Flat Frodo!!!

Here! From the Humane Society:
"You can only ensure a healthy diet for pigs with confinement production systems."
Before confinement farming existed, pigs were more likely to be raised using a pasturing system. The pigs rooted in the ground for acorns and edible roots, a behavior which evolved over millions of years. Today's pastured pigs are given the same opportunity to eat a more diverse diet of plants and grains, which is not only beneficial for the animal's health, but also for the farm ecosystem. What this person is really saying, we think, is that pigs won't grow as fast without human intervention, not that they won't grow at all. Intensively raised hogs today are fed subtherapeutic levels of antibiotics, which as a side-effect promotes growth. In addition, they are fed a diet of government-subsidized grains such as corn and soybeans to speed their weight gain. Pasture-raised hogs, on the other hand, take longer to grow to market weight; however their welfare is improved by having access to pasture.

To get to this place I have to give directions from Adamsville because we always came from Temple. So, coming from the north on 281 though Adamsville, you crossed the river and took the first right, west, onto a farm road. That's a paved road. After 4 or 5 miles the road Y'd and you went right, still heading west. Then, on further down you passed some gravel roads but maybe the 3rd or 4th you went off to the right, northwest. Past one cattle guard and just before the 2nd cattle guard were huge pens of pigs. I mean packed with pigs. Pigs on top of pigs. *gag*

I submit that a horse raised in a 10x10' pen for 6 months would stink too...and would try to get out!

Well, I'm planning to take Frodo to sights in Bosque, McClennen and Burnet counties. And I guess if I have to I'll get a shot of him somewhere up here in Wichita. But, that's really not necesary. Nothing here to see.
Girl, if you think Texas all looks the same you just don't get out enough. You need to be coming with me! Matter of fact, maybe you ought to meet me for Frodo's excusion in Burnet county!!!! I'm taking him to Krause Springs.
