This was a labor of love for you, putting it together, and the rewards are coming in a hundred-fold!

I'd love to hear about THEM. I don't have kids but claim everyone else's and I especially love well behaved kids. LOL Bend my ear because I'm sure they're (almost - **grin**) as wonderful as Eric (I have a real soft spot for military). From your postings on FR, you and your husband appear to be exceptional parents and there MUST be wonderful tales about them also.

Well, the oldest (a daughter) is brilliant, getting a PhD in medieval philosophy, and has been asked by her profs to prepare her papers for publication. She's never given us a moment's trouble from the day she was born.

The second (a son) is brilliant, working on a double major of Political Science and International Studies with a minor in German, just spent a semester in Austria and is thinking about the CIA. He's also a marathon runner.

Then there's Eric. :o)

Our youngest (a girl) is bright, confident, stands up to anyone in defense of the Word of God, or conservative politics, is an aggressive athlete, and has a joie de vivre like no one I know.

They are all smart, talented, athletic and wonderful kids, who are living for the Lord, and I am not ONE bit objective about them! :o)

It is because of the courage of young men like him that I can rest assured that we will still live free. My own Mother knew that same pain for 20 years while I served. But your son will mature beyond his years and be a man that you can take pride in always. He is doing something very worthwhile, and something a lot of kids don't have the guts, or spine to do ... that is to serve in something that is much larger than his own self.

He will truly understand the meaning of the lines from Shakespeare's HENRY V -

We few, we happy few,
We Band of Brothers,
For he that sheds his blood with me this day,
Shall be my brother.

I am comforted to know the torch has passed to a fine young man ... thank you!

Eric just wrote a letter to our pastor, part of which he read to the congregation yesterday, in which Eric shared how much he could feel the prayer support of God's people, and what a difference it is making in his ability to endure the difficulties there.
