I don't think there'll be anymore C & W singers to follow the dumb chicks lead. Not if they want to keep on keeping on.

Fightin Side of Me
Merle Haggard
I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.
An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides,
An' standin' up for things they believe in.
When they're runnin' down my country, man,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
I read about some squirrely guy,
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'.
An' I wonder just how long,
The rest of us can count on bein' free.
They love our milk an' honey,
But they preach about some other way of livin'.
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

Good one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been up to my nose in work at my job and I rarely get on the computer at home so I just found out about it. It is amazing isn't it, how quickly a career can be ruined. I would be willing to bet that all the damage has been done. I wonder if they had any idea of the size of the backlash those ill thought out words would have. Clearly they did not.

Way to go Houston!!!
The dixie cowards are out of the country for another six weeks. Touring Germany and a long stayover in France, I bet.

"I feel the President is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view." Yes, Natalie dear and WE are free to exercise our points of view at the cash register. Hope you enjoyed your career while it lasted. Buh-bye!

Well, when the wife got home from work she got her Dixie Chicks CD's and tossed them in the trash. The local Richmond country station (K95) has banned their songs this weekend and are awaiting the results of an on-line poll to see if they will ban their songs permanently.

I haven't read this yet, thanks for the ping!
Boycotts are working. Martin Sheen lost his Visa job also.
Boo-hoo.
The Dixie chicks must be Clooless to not realize their audience was on the right side of the isle. All they had to do, was keep their mouths shut. But nope...

I've decided not to change it.
The reasoning behind my choice of nics had nothing to do with the DC's. I chose it because, while I now live in Oregon, I was born and raised in Mississippi, and my family is still there. Heck, at the time I signed up, I had not even heard of the DC's, and the only song of theirs that I know and like is that song about Earl. I like it because it's edgey...
