No Mr. Carter, THIS whole controversy is very LARGE...or perhaps you think that damn near seditious statements by left-wing celebrities and the support your station provides in giving them access to that platform are but a trivial concern to your listeners...
To: JakeINJoisey
Don't you mean the "Blixie Chicks?"
To: JakeINJoisey
How many other country stations are there in KC? I give it 6 months before KFKF has a "change in format."

All the other stations in the market are refusing to air the chicks.

When one of their songs comes on the radio . . . CLICK!! Never again. Last night, we attended Ricky Skaggs concert in Hanford, CA. He made wonderful, supportive remarks about our President, our Troops and our country and he made fun of and criticized the Hollywood types. RICKY SKAGGS IS A GENIUS, musically, too. WHAT A GREAT AWESOME EVENT!! Blue grass forever. Let's roll! For victory & freedom!!!

The vast majority of them have asked us to stop playing the Dixie Chicks until Natalie apologizes to the President.. Apology, schmology. The "vast majority" want you to stop playing the Ditzy Twits. Period.

"We are putting the Dixie Chicks back on KFKF." Bad move, Dale. I suspect your days as a Program Director can be measured in two digit numbers. Maybe the Chicks will let you roadie for them on their washed up tour next year in health food stores, flea markets and public parks across the country.

Dale's email addressHe is operating under the misconception that by not playing their songs he is defending the first amendment. Censorship is a function of government, private companies can exercise their right to play what they damn well please. He's a copout.

Every time a Dixie Chick song is to be played, it should be replaced with:
Have You Forgotten by Darryl Worley
God Bless The USA by Lee Greenwood
Courtesy Of The Red, White, and Blue by Toby Keith

Here's the line that TORQUES me...
"In light of what our men and women are about to do, this whole controversy is very small."
This guy is either a leftist or clueless...no other possibility...

I just responded to Mr Carter's lame excuse of 'supporting the Constitution'. I'm sorry, but I don't consider condoning irresponsibility 'supporting the Constitution'

My email to him:
No, there's one other thing we can do to show our contempt for the Dixie Skanks, besides not buying their albums or listening to your station:
We can contact your advertisers and let them know their goods and services will be shunned, so long as they choose to advertise on KFKF.
There's lots of other radio stations in the greater KC area....And I anticipate their ratings improving over the next few weeks.

PS. There's a whole conservative internet community out there. Ever hear of Free Republic? The Dixie Chicks controversy-AND your own statement-are getting a lot of attention on it. This isn't going to go away.
My husband's earlier email:
That's ok Dale, I understand that you have to do what you think is right. There's always 61 Country and KBEQ to listen to instead of KFKF.
Best wishes,

If your in that area ,call the station and let them know you've changed stations. If your in the Harrisburg Pa area BOB94 is not going to stop playing the Chicks ,thats fine theres more then one station and I don't have to listen to country.

Last night I ushered at the Kathy Mattea concert. Her first song was something about "The Guns of Love" will end the war (blah, blah, blah) and how this was written in response to Toby Keith. Maybe 2 people in the audience (of about 900) hooted, while within 20 minutes, at least 4 dozen people walked out (and never returned), some immediately upon completion of the first song. It took tremendous resolve to not high-five these early departures.

I'm against stations refusing to play the Dixie Chicks. That will just give the DC's a chance to prattle about the "heavy price" they had to pay for their "courageous stand," how they've been "blacklisted," "it's a new McCarthyism," etc. We need to keep in mind that the mainstream media is on their side and will spin it their way.
