Fox has video footage from inside the club showing the pyrotechinics on stage before the fire. It's unbelievable...tongues of flame behind the band shooting up toward a low ceiling....deliberately! What were they thinking??? (How long before Jesse Jackson shows up?)
Jesse won't bother to show up for this nightclub disaster, white people involved.
Hey IG, hope you're doing well. How's your computer?
I have some errands to run this morning. HLL said she would make a new thread today.
Y'all have a great morning!
WEASEL enthusiasts don't like it when Germany's Gerhard Schroeder and France's Jacques Chirac are compared to weasels. It's unfair, they say - to weasels. When The Post put weasel heads on the suited bodies of the "Axis of Weasels" UN reps, Weasel Central went into red alert. The Web site is "dedicated to ending the irrational hatred of mustela nivalis that has dominated Western Culture."
"First off, it's a bad stereotype because weasels are distinctly a North American animal - they are very hard to find in France," People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' Ingrid Newkirk informs us.
"They are also fierce warriors, Rambo types." [That definitely leaves out the French]
Newkirk advises that "the poodle" is a better representation of the French. "Poodles are pretty, chic, pensive," she notes. "They like to make love, not war." Another thing: weasels eat rodents and insects, not snails and sauerkraut. And their bellies are white - not yellow. Page Six
Ben, Ben, Ben. Being a Democrat is consistent with, not contrary to, the notion of "everything that is wrong with politics today." So what's the problem?
The grandson of Britain's Prime Minister Harold Macmillan just delivered what has to be one of the most idiotic fashion manifestoes of the season. "I wouldn't change a thing about the way [Osama] Bin Laden dresses," he told the Daily Mail. "He is quite stylish. [President] Bush's dress sense is appalling. Saddam [Hussein] wears the same shoes as Bush. How embarrassing is that?" NY Daily News
Hmmm, what could be more embarrassing than that, indeed?
"Duct tape and plastic wrap are for uninsured drivers with broken windows, not for a nation fighting terrorists. If you are going to join the panic, you might as well align your financial interests: some of the companies leading the latest rally include 3M (Scotch duct tape), Gillette (Duracell batteries), Energizer Holdings (Eveready batteries), and Dial (Armour canned meat). You entrepreneurs out there might want to go on eBay and bid for the domain name DuctTapeAndPlastic.com, which some patriot just put up for auction.

Two years ago, Donna Brazile, then Al Gore's campaign manager, was engaged in daily combat with Karl Rove, then George W. Bush's top campaign strategist.Today, they chirpily exchange e-mail, chat on the phone and write letters, indulging in their shared zeal for the inner workings of politics.
"I like her a lot," said Mr. Rove, now ensconced in the West Wing as President Bush's chief political adviser....
French diplomatic sources, however, welcomed an idea, being circulated at the United Nations, that Baghdad could be set specific tasks that might serve as "benchmarks" for compliance.
Addressing a Paris summit where African leaders, including the three African members of the Security Council who signed up to the French position, President Jacques Chirac reaffirmed his view that it would be premature to launch military action.
"Things being as they are today, everything argues for the fact that the goal can be achieved by peaceful means, that is to say through inspections, and not by military means," Chirac told the two-day summit's closing news conference. Reuters

What a coincidence. The French see no need for a new resolution, and I see no need for the French. Actually, they're correct. There already have been enough resolutions - and violations - to justify UN action against Iraq, but they're suffering from collective and selective amnesia, apparently.
What a worthless bunch they're proving to be. Mr. M and I plan to do quite a bit of traveling in coming years, but I'm pretty sure that last October was our last trip to France. We'll see if Germany comes around. In any event, I'm pretty sure that future excursions will be to friendlier nations. I haven't been to Spain since 1983, I'm sure it will be a lovely place to visit.
In 1983, I spent a week golfing in Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava, Spain and had a wonderful time there.
