The latest on the Margaert front:
Taxes - who gets the kids?
If I get them I have a bigger tax benefit, which I split 50:50 with Her. We both end up with more money in our pockets.
We each need to sign a Form 8332 to declare who gets the kids. She wants me to pay Her up front before She will sign. Says the tax man suggested that She do this.
I 'splained to her I didn't have the money. She is standing firm. My re-explanation is:
Me: No can do. I do not have the money.
Her: That (getting a check up front) 's what I've been advised.
ME:
That's nice.
Let me rephrase that:
I DO NOT have the money.
This amount is more than the total amount I have in checking and savings added together.
There is no money to give you.
It isn't there.
I just finished my waiting period on unemployment.
In two weeks I will get an unemployment check for less than half that amount.
From that I am expected to cover my child support payment, and all my bills, and my mortgage.
Unless I get a job I will never get sufficiently caught up to cut you that check.
Never.
Ever.
I can pay you out of the money I expect to get back from the IRS.
I can't pay you without that money.
You can't get back the money the IRS owes you without my signature on the Form 8332.
