George Eastman House.. My goodness, I will have to check that out.. That name runs thru my husbands whole family.. Of course I know there is not relation.. I take it that this Eastman may have to do with Eastman Kodak?
Thank you.. I will check them both out...
To: grannie9
It is the long set of photographs which the Eastman-Kodak fellows keep to show off the fruits of their invention.
I sometimes get a little perturbed when each photograph comes with an explanation, but the explanation is more of how the picture was taken when I'd like more details about what the picture is of.

cheers.

I have just been to Eastman for a 15 minute visit.. It is wonderful.. Thank you for the links. I will go back as soon as I can.
I agree with you.. I would love to know more about the pics themselves, but maybe there is no way for that.
Thrilling place and looking forward to the other link as soon as I devour this one.. ;)

Does this mean you're mail is OK now? If so, great news. I use the pitstop to insure happy computing - they might have some fixes to make your new beast even more invincible. (Besides, I like to look at it checking out the graphics - totally eye-boggling...;-))

Mom says Hi to all, and here's the news from the NW...just thought I would give you a Monday report.....
Early this morning, at 6am, the phone rang....of course, I was in a near coma, that early in the morning.....I rarely get up before 9am if I can help it....anyway it was the roofers wanting to know if they could come out today.....our roof was supposed to go on right after we returned from California, but the roofers had gotten behind in their orders, due to rain, and some severe unforeseen problems with some of their orders....so they were supposed to come out this Wednesday....but their original scheduled job for today, included installing skylights, which had not arrived, so they wanted to switch that job for ours....
So now they are up on the rooftop, and the banging is going on....its really loud, and making me nervous....poor Dizzy, skittish as he is, has run into the back bedroom, and is hiding out in the closet, until the noise stops....I will be glad when its over, ,it sounds like an earthquake is happening....
I
I heard from our Andy this morning, and he says, of course, he will be down for Thanksgiving, and will be spending the night here....thats nice, because often he is just here for the day...this way, we can all sit up late, and drink lots of beer, after our gigantic meal...Andy wont have to worry about driving that night.....so BigDom and I are thrilled that he is going to be with us for two days, rather than just one....We just love it when our boy comes down and spends time with us.....he has so many friends, and is so busy all the time, we realize that its hard for him to make time for us....hes got so many friends just in this area, and then has friends all over the USA and friends overseas, so he is always taking off to visit with people...and still be able to do the things he enjoys....nice to be young, on the loose, and well off financially...but we are glad he still makes time for the 'old folks'......tho I think he sometimes, likes to visit with us, to hear of our latest weird escapades, and shake his head, and wonder to himself, "Are these really the parents who raised me?"
He still cannot believe that we just took off in a big old RV, never having had any experience with such things....we look forward to regaling him with our tales of RVing around with Dizzy in tow....
BigDom went to Costco on Saturday....after we had shopped, BigDom got us each a slice of pizza to eat indoors at Costco, and then he got a few polish sausage sandwiches for our dinner, later in the evening....it was so crowded, and we sat down with an older couple in their 70s...the old man just looked at BigDoms food haul, and commented, "Say there, you are mighty hungry, arent you".....we all just laughed....they were such a cute little couple..
While we were eating, BigDom nudged me, to notice this little baby.....the baby was sitting in the shopping cart, and the mom was trying to push the cart, while feeding the baby its bottle.....milk was all over the place, including the babys face and hair....what a mess...the baby was crabby, and crying and obviously bored and tired....the poor young mom was frustrated, tired, and bedraggled....BigDom and I the older couple just smiled at the mom and baby, obviously delighted by the sweet baby, and obviously knowledgeable about how it feels to shop in a crowded store with a tired cranky baby....it was a pleasure to coo at the baby, knowing that we could go home without having the responsibility of the baby.....
I said, 'Been there, done that"....the old lady said, "Yes, and thank goodness its over".....still, for all the hassle of babies, they are the sweetest things God ever made, and seeing that baby, brought back a flood of memories, of bygone days, when I was young, and had one baby, then had another....and of the days, going to the store, with a young baby, and small child in tow.....Sweet memories indeed...
Well, the weather here is chilly, and overcast, tho no rain, and no rain predicted for a little while anyway.....hopefully Thanksgiving will be nice and sunny, it always makes the holiday seem nicer when the sun makes an appearance....
Our first Thanksgiving here in Washington was memorable...I had gotten the turkey in early, as usual, and it was about half done cooking, when the terrible winds that had been howling all day, knocked out all the power.....I had to cook breakfast on our trusty coleman camping stove, out in the garage.....finally after about 2-3 hours the power came back on....it was just a somewhat later Thanksgiving meal....
But for many people, especially those out in the country, or in the more remote areas, they were informed that they power would be a day or maybe even a few days in coming back on, the winds had done so much major damage to the power lines....so many of those people packed up and went to friends or relatives for the duration of the wait for a return of their power....
But what had happened to a number of those families was terrible.....when the power went out, they forgot to turn off their stoves......if the power returned, and they were not there, their stoves came back on, and started cooking...and cooked and cooked and cooked unattended....pots caught fire, ovens caught fire, and a number of people, when they returned, returned to burned down homes.....it was so terrible....
So always remember, when your power goes out, turn off the stove, or blow dryers, or anything else that could catch fire, if you are not there....Thats my Thanksgiving tip.....
Anyway, thats it for today...say hi to all DD friends, and hopefully within another week I will be back online at FR.....
Take care and wave hello to all DD people....

Thanks Grannie.
I remember being in Germany and England right after the war (early 50's) as a child and that is the respect you were expected to have and which everyone had for America.
Cheers.
