Yeah - Got my bi's about two years ago.
They work great!
But I read so quickly - eyes scanning back-in-forth - that I had to get a very, very wide reading section. Couldn't use the no-lines version at all. And the regular version(s) were too narrow.
But I also got some computer-focus glasses (at the regular distance the screen is at) that are full vision.) That way, when I'm working off of drawings or plans and the screen, both are in focus without craing my neck back.
"Course, when I'm wearing the 'puter glasses, I can't see across the room ---- but them again, who's lookin' across the room if the drawing and the screen are both in front of me at "elbow's length"?

thank goodness i am nowhere near as old as you, robt. the only reason i don't have bifocals is that i have not yet been to the eye dr. My esteemed eye dr. has given up opthamology to pursue his dream of being an ARTISAN BAKER...i kid you not.....i have to find a new guy.

Artisan bread is best described by thinking about the person who makes the bread. An artisan baker is a craftsperson who is trained to the highest ability to mix, ferment, shape and bake a hand crafted loaf of bread. They understand the science behind the chemical reactions of the ingredients and know how to provide the best environment for the bread to develop. Compare an artisan baker to other familiar craftspersons. A baker's work parallels that of jewelers, glass blowers or furniture makers. They all have a palette of preferred, trustworthy materials. They know how to combine their materials to build something strong and at the same time delicate or elegant. Combining the raw materials in different ways will create various shapes, textures or colors. The finished product is something to be proud of when so much thought and creativity went into it.
Sounds like a bunch of crap to me.... i have a bread machine. am i an artisan baker?

Foo foo breads. I pick my nose in their general direction.
Here's a real artisan bakery: Wheat Montana.
To: CholeraJoe
Wheat Montana is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for the fastest time from wheat in the field to finished loaf - 13 minutes.

I have to admit, that I am giving serious consideration to the Lasik surgery now. While I was in the Doc's office, I saw an advertisement for the surgery for $850.00 an eye. I may just have to save up. :-)
To: RikaStrom
i rode my late father's butt for forever to have his cataract surgery done, and i am just as bad. i am definitely my father's daughter!

Eggnog, oysters on the half shell, cerviche, steak tartar. That's just for starters!Sushi also comes to mind. LOL
Except that I like 3 out of the above 5.
To: Eala
I am trying to avoid the bifocals! The doc keeps bringing them up, but that would really depress me.
It amazes me how expensive being blind can be. My glasses are the ultra-thin lenses (at about double the price) Good grief, just because I don't want to look through the bottom of a coke bottle. :-)

Okay - But how far away are you holding your sewing when you cross-stitch?
Hmmmmmn?
Nag. Nag. Nag. 8<)
By the way...... My mom got 6 blue ribbons, including a couple of best-in-class, and best-in-show at the Guadelupe County Fair two weeks ago on her cross-stiching and Christmas angel beads decorations......
Yaaay! Way to go mom!
To: RikaStrom
Shop around Rika. I had some friends in Louisiana that paid $400 per eye. It's also cheaper in Canada.
To: CholeraJoe
I probably will. Could you imagine the trip home? Sorry Ma, only here for a quick visit while I juant across the border for surgery. LOL
She might get cranky at that.
