Reasonable discussions can take place now. It's good to move some furniture every now and again just to keep everyone's pulse going.I know for a fact that a few people have a better understanding today (including myself). I believe it was well worth the effort.

I won't quibble with you over whether or not the man for whom your state is named was a "Founding Father" since it depends in part on how the term is defined.
The point of my post was that man is not perfectable, or even made good, by the state.

I have not. What is the gist of it as it relates to this issue? If it gives a smoking gun then WHY hasn't the administration pointed it out?

All, right, now, I finally learned what the 5 meant, but now I have to learn what 42 is???
...(sigh)...

The Universal answer (from Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and/or Restaurant at the end of the universe, Douglas Addams). Has no relation to x42, thankfully!

To make a long story short--her book--which was written before 9/11--argues that Hussein sponsored the '93 attack on the WTC, and her Introduction makes it clear, as a postscript, that she believes he did the same on 9/11.
As for why the administration has yet to follow her lead: There you have me. I haven't the slightest blinkin' idea.
Here's an interview with her on the subject. If you have a chance, check out her book, she's quite interesting.

That's funny, because I heard George Will talking about George Washington a couple of weekends ago and he said that Washington paid for barrels of whiskey at polling places, to attract voters. That was a common practice at the time.
To: RaceBannon
now I have to learn what 42 is Why it's the answer to life, the universe, and everything . . .
To: wirestripper
The British made the mistake of saying the same things about Hitler. I see, so when those against a war with Iraq talk about Hitler - it's baaad, baaaad, - "here's your 5"
But when you guys want to bring up Hitler - perfectly reasonable. Hypocrisy thy name is "wirestripper"
You see the difference between Hitler and Saddam at least at this juncture is Saddam hasn't bothered nor invaded anyone since the end of the Gulf "War".
Sadam has been quietly doing his thing through third and fourth parties by supporting terrorists. He has been warring by proxy. He has the power and money of a state to build WMD and provide same to third and fourth parties who will do the deed.
Ok, if you say so. Now lets see the irrefutable evidence, not the speculation.
To: VaBthang4
Hey I'm witcha! Actually you're not, but I only expected a few people here to understand the significance of "42" and it's not a mantra, but . . . nice guess. Unfortunately, I have no consolation prizes.

BTW, have you read that last book that was published posthumously? I have the book, but have yet to find time to read it. Perhaps on Christmas break - med school is seriously cutting into my goof around time. I picked up the first book in fourth grade, it began my love for reading and books. Up to that point I hated reading and what I found was that I just was trying to read crap that was way below my level. If you read the last book, do NOT tell me what happens.
I love God's last message to the universe - "Sorry for all the inconvenience"

Would you support military action against the Saudis? I'm not sure I'd even support military action against the Saudi's at least not at this juncture, but they sure make a hell of lot more sense than Iraq. At least the evidence that I have seen shows them more culpable than Iraq.
