Sorry, I realized that later upon more closely scrutinizing your post. I should have known better.... Never mind!
But isn't it great that it is going to be in there! They are really trying to do the best possible job they can with this it seems, and not leave out too much in the compression. I can't wait!
To: John Farson
I would not have read it if it didn't promise major spoilers!
And it was artfully written, really, it told what happens in the new scenes, but not the actual lines, so it will still be a surprise!

I can't wait either!

Great. More Haldir. :)He's going to be at Helm's Deep, too isn't he?
'Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd aimênu!'
That phrase sounds extremely Hebrew, which I believe was Tolkien's intent.

Thanks, Maq and Hair, for the ping.
I didn't know there were going to be more than one version of the extended DVD. Another happy decision to make.

As I recall, in the book, the ring is caught with a fishhook, but in the prologue to the theatrical version we see Smeagol's hand grasping it from the bottom of the river.

Here's an excerpt of the story (from Chapter 2 of FOTR): "....There Smeagol got out and went nosing about the banks but Deagol sat in the boat and fished. Suddenly a great fish took his hook and before he knew where he was he was dragged out and down into the water to the bottom. Then he let go of his line, for he thought he saw something shiny in the riverbed; and holding his breath he grabbed at it (the Ring)."
So Deagol found it and shortly afterward Smeagol murdered him to get it.

So Deagol found it and shortly afterward Smeagol murdered him to get it.Correct, and you wouldn't know that from the theatrical version.

Since when are commerical advertisements allowed on FR?
To: FormerLurker
I really don't know Former Lurker!
This isn't my thread.
Why are you trying to go to war with me? Because we have disagreed about an issue on a thread? - Are you trying to carry a grudge against me here? - I have been civil with you all along. And I answered your FReepmail. Apparently not fast enough for you.
To: FormerLurker
Relax, Harvey.

You got it. Golden oldies for me would be the Beatles, Led Zepellin, The Who, etc...

It's not that I don't admire the talent of those composers, and I do in fact like some of their material. I just don't personally own any of their albums (or 8-tracks, cassettes, or CDs)... :)
