Chapter 2....
" It was a good thing that the boys got busy and got order into the house and grounds when they did. They barely had time to get out of their dungrees before the first coach could be heard coming up the newly smoothed gravel road towards Casa de Ringy. Yes, their hearts could be heard pounding in the next county as they spied the coach containing Miss Bess who was a member of the " Advance Party" ( you military types will know what that is). The boys only had a few precious minutes to cast their scan around the house and proptery before Miss Bess, resplendent in the shiny coach, would decend from the coach. Delicately she stepped from the coach ( a shiny Lincoln Town Car), smoothed her skirts, brushed the strand of hair from her eyes to see how well the homestead looked. As Wings spotted one last poptart wrapper adrift at the corner of the stairs, he had just enough time to hide it under a lush bush, before the lovely and gracious Miss Bess could see it. " How wonderful the home and grounds look, boys!" she cried!" Ringy will be so thrilled to arrive later in the week to see how well her digs look!" " I can't wait to see the house and sit in one of the luxurious chairs in the sitting room as I sip my cup of tea and just let my eyes drift out upon the expanse of lawn in the back that even Tiger Woods would envy!"
With a sudden gasp, the boys remembered there was no food or tea in the house...." Oh Groan" thought Flash. " We did take the easy way out while we were here..We ate out every nite and snuck off to the beach! What are we gonna do now?" Wings grabbed him by the sleeve and said " Oh no you don't! You ain't headin fer that airplane to make an escape! You gonna get in the jeep and head out ta the Safeway while Tex and I try to distract Miss Bess!"
What will happen next? Will the boys get Miss Bess her tea before she realizes the cupborad is bare? Will Flash get back in time? Stay tuned for " True Confessions"

In other news:
DENVER -- Heavy rains sent full-grown trees, massive boulders and rivers of mud rushing across charred hillsides in southwestern Colorado on Wednesday, isolating hundreds of residents in their homes for the second time in less than a week.
No one was in immediate danger but roads near Durango were blocked by debris 10 feet high and boulders weighing several tons apiece, said La Plata County sheriff's Lt. Dan Bender.
"What used to be a pine forest next to an upscale home is now a gaping hole and a boulder field," Bender said.
One to 3 inches of rain had fallen in the area since Tuesday afternoon. More rain was forecast later Wednesday, and authorities were bracing for additional mudslides.

Miami-Dade Gay Rights Law Upheld
Wednesday, September 11, 2002...Last updated at 5:14:14 p.m. PT
By TAL ABBADY ...ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
MIAMI -- Voters in Miami-Dade County have rejected an attempt by Christian conservatives to repeal an ordinance protecting gay rights.
The county's political and business leaders had pushed to keep the ordinance, fearing a boycott from gay and liberal groups and the rejection of the region's bid to hold the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
With 96 percent of precincts reporting in Tuesday's primary, 150,316 votes, or 53 percent, were against repealing the law, while 133,299 votes, or 47 percent, were in favor.
The measure would have eliminated an amendment to the county's human rights ordinance that bans discrimination based on sexual orientation in housing, employment, lending and public accommodations.
Supporters and opponents of the ordinance waited until Wednesday night for a final tally of votes as elections officials wrangled with technical glitches and other problems that delayed the county's ballot count.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas, an outspoken supporter of the law, said the repeal's defeat reinforced Miami's image as a progressive, world-class city.
"All ethnic groups were on the same page today on this issue," Penelas said. "There's no room for discrimination of any sort - we're a community of inclusion and we sent a very strong message."

........Eladio Jose Armesto of Take Back Miami-Dade, a coalition that spearheaded the repeal effort, said only a rigged vote could have resulted in victory for the law's supporters, and planned to call for an investigation. The Christian Coalition was one of the coalition's key members.
"Anti-repeal forces are in control of the mayor's office and the department of elections," Armesto said.
A similar ordinance was repealed in 1977 after a successful campaign led by former beauty queen and orange juice spokeswoman Anita Bryant. Gay rights were restored in 1998 after a new ordinance was passed.
Lorri Jean, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, said voters' endorsement of the ordinance confirms the country's growing acceptance of gays and lesbians.
"The victory is sweet," she said. "Miami-Dade has come a long way."

Well West .. as I agree the media and others have been on a feeding frenzy over 9/11 .. I also have to agree with this part of the article
Times and technology were different, of course, he says. Indeed, the public only knew the real toll of Pearl Harbor when a year later the Navy released numbers of ships sunk and lives lost.
The Times are different now and a part of me thinks if there were 24/7 news back then .. folks around the country would be just as raw
This was the 1st anvs. and I am sure in time we will remember this horrible day just like we remember the others horrorible days in our countries history .. a day of rememberance for those who died

There has been NEWS made today:
Five Illegal Immigrants Arrested
Wednesday, September 11, 2002...Last updated at 5:27:52 p.m. PT
By FOSTER KLUG.. ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
BALTIMORE -- A collection of identification cards, some literature written in Arabic and two computers were seized Wednesday from an apartment where five men were arrested on immigration violations, police said Wednesday.
The two Canadian citizens - originally from Afghanistan and Pakistan - a Somali, Pakistani, and Afghani were taken into custody Tuesday by the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
INS spokesman Chris Bentley refused to say what the illegal immigrants were charged with, but said the violations were "nothing that the INS in Baltimore doesn't see day in, day out."
Authorities, including the FBI's anti-terrorism task force, were translating the Arabic writing and examining the seized computers to see what Web sites were accessed, said Baltimore police spokeswoman Ragina Averella. She said it was too early to know if the material is related to terrorism.
