Man accused of abusing girl at his church ward
SALT LAKE CITY -- A former bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at an LDS church ward building.
Spencer Dixon, 38, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.
He was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on a $100,000 warrant Thursday morning, said Salt Lake City police Sgt. Fred Louis. Dixon posted bail and was released later in the day.
The crime would normally be charged as a second-degree felony, but because Dixon was the religious leader of the alleged victim, the crime was elevated to a first-degree felony, Salt Lake County prosecutor Kent Morgan said.
Dixon was bishop when the incident occurred Aug. 24. He has been relieved of his duties pending further investigation.
Other than the girl's testimony, Louis said there is no evidence linking Dixon to the crime.
The LDS church said Thursday that Dixon is maintaining his innocence.

I sent you a private frmail, no need to reply... it is just something I wanted to mention to you after what I sent you the other day. I am still looking into it farther but I will have to give it a rest as I have to start on a clients project starting wednesday evening and I do not know how long it will take me to rap it up.

Very interesting article. I may have to start reading the SL Weekly regularly, maybe...

Yep... I liked this part...
But Klaas quickly fell out of favor with the Smarts. Mike Grass, a spokesman for the family, said the Smarts had no idea Klaas was involved with Fox News. When they found out, they felt like he was just another reporter who had tried to manipulate his way into the inner circle and gather exclusive information. He came in supposedly to console the family but we saw him there as a reporter no different from any other. Then he started criticizing the family for their decision not to have employees of Fox News help with the search for Elizabeth. That says a lot about the character of this individual.
I thought it was a good article and is worth reading all the way through.

Yes, isn't it interesting how some of the puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place. I liked that passage also.

What an eclectic column. Very odd juxtaposition of articles. And I'm really afraid with Ricci's death, we may never know who took Elizabeth. I think Ricci knew.

Little Lost Girl
Snippet...Almost a week of stories indicating the police investigation had made little progressparticularly Kevin Canteras June 11 report in the Salt Lake Tribune, headlined Smart Case Stumps Police may have gotten under the departments skin. That same day, Chief Dinse called another press conference (local media have swallowed the news briefing public relations lingo to describe these events) to announce what sounded like a first break in the casealthough hedged with enough ambiguity to suggest the chief may have been trying to deflect heat from investigators.

Innocent Until
A lack of kidnapping charges against Richard Ricci hasnt cleared his name.
Snippet...Police spokesman Baird said the media has been running its own justice proceedings with regard to the abduction. And that in many ways it has nothing to do with whats really going on in the investigation, which, of course, is top secret. In the meantime, he said, the familys determination to hold daily press conferences may be fueling that frenzy. They are running out of things to say every day. Talking about Ricci is as good as anything else, so they do it. Its almost as if they are wondering out loud.
