To bvw, John Jamieson, FresnoDA and all the SaveDave team, I guess I won't need to be worried about accusing Westerfield of being an evil, disgusting child killer--it's a proven legal fact. But I sure wouldn't want to be one of those people so actively engaged on the internet of not just defending their daughter's killer, but in also accusing the child's parents of being her killers. I said before and I repeat: That was disgusting and vile.

There was a molester in my family. Unfortunately, no one came forward before he died. Sadly enough, there was some kind of criminal prosecution (he had to register as a sex offender). We never heard anything about it.

Registering as a sex offender only give the police some place to start looking. I don't think it protects anyone (unless or until the info is public anyway).

It sounds like we only know that Westerfield's grandfather molested girls. I "think" molesters don't tend to switch hit, but I'm not sure if that's something I've learned or read some where or if I'm just assuming.

Agreed, Dianna, it's just something that could explain his aberrant behavior. It's something to ask about. He may not have been picking strawberries those summers at Grampa's farm. Was he a subject of abuse, or did he observe, hear of and/or learn about such behavior from a respected family member, and thereby begin a flirtation with perversion? Questions for the prison psychiatrist to delve into, I guess, but I'm a little surprised that Feldman did not use it to try to evoke sympathy. I suppose that he did not want the jury to be more convinced of guilt, even if it means that they will be less inclined to be merciful.

It was a desperate move on Feldman's part to insinuate that the violent kiddie porn was Neal's. It forced Dusek to put Neal on the stand and his testimony was devastating. Even though Westerfield never made any statement implicating his son, Feldman would never have dished dirt on Neal without his client's ok.

I did not watch much of the trial altho I did read about some of the son's testimony. He said he surfed the porn sites using the name Bob Dole. Guess everyone thought that was pretty funny. SICK SICK SICK
