I sure hope so. ;-)

It's been raining here all day, and apparently many people have forgotten how to drive in it. Had to go to Maryland and saw accidents all over the place. I'll be glad when 5:00 comes and I can head home. ;-)

They do love it outside.. Woods and big yard and driveway.. They usually bring their bikes, scooters, and they play basketball. They also love to half kill themselves and others on the golf cart.. You have to watch the big ones.. They love to speed and take sharp circles.. I yell a lot..and cover my eyes... lol

Good afternoon everyone...I have finally climbed out of my pain pill induced slumber, and decided I should stay awake for a bit...

Gran, your pics of the sunrise from the side yard are just marvelous...you really are a whiz with the camera....

That pic of your grandson Matthew, reminds me of my dads always playing with his camera, and aside from just taking lots of pics, he like to manipulate the pics and do things extra special...

Like, he always got a kick out of those old ads in the womens magazines, where they would show a group of lovely ladies, all posing in their bras, with the usual caption of 'I dream I was (fill in the blank) in my Maidenform Bra'...dad always got a kick out of that ad, and thought he would like to be in it in a photo...

So using his tripod, and camera, he took several pics of himself, barechested, and about the same size of the ladies in the ad...then when he got the perfect pic of himself, he would insert his barechested self portrait, into that Maidenform Bra pic, and then take a pic of that finished off pic...

The result was, there was Dad, looking as if he belonged in that pic of bra cladden maidens, and he all barechested, with a sly and evil grin on his face...

Or after we had been to Mt. Rushmore, dad thought he would look snappy up there...again, he took pics of himself, and inserted his head right next to one of the Presidents...and sometimes he inserted the pic of Alfred E. Newman on Mt. Rushmore...

Another trick he liked to do, was take your pic and make you into twins...he would have you stand on side of dark colored blanket that had been hung up...he would have you stand in profile, with your face, facing the camera, and he would snap you pic...then he would have you go to the other side of the blanket, and this time you would also be in profile, with your face, facing the camera...dad did not forward the film from the first pic, ,but just snapped the second pic, creating a double exposure...but because he had you standing to the opposite sides of a dark blanket,, in the two shots, when the double exposure came out, it looked as if it was a pic of you and your twin...

We kids used to get the biggest kick out of dad, and his tricks with his camera...he enjoyed it tho, probably more than we did...he just got the biggest bang out of doing such things..

We probably will not be going up to Mt. Rainier, as we had planned this weekend...my broken toes are one hindrance, and then BigDom found out he has to work on Saturday...the next weeks schedules always come out on Wed. nites, so he found out last night, that he has to work on Sat...when you are on the ODL list, you almost cannot refuse to work a Saturday, when they want you...all the overtime workers have to take their turns working a non scheduled day, which for Dom is Saturday and Sunday...oh well, the extra money is always welcomed, considering we are going down to California at the end of October for two weeks, and of course the holidays are coming...and of course the roof will cost a bundle...so Dom says since I am still nursing my tooties, he may as well work Saturday, and earn some extra moolah...

Mom.. your Dad was ahead of his time.. Can you imagine how he'd love digital cameras? He'd have a ball.. What he did in his day was a lot of work.. Crazy guy..

Loddy could do all that stuff too, if he opened his box.. ;)

I hope your foot heals fast, but I know it won't.. Like Habs said, be careful of stubbing it.. OMG.. You know how it is when you stub a toe once, it seems to happen all the time. Take care, "Limping Lizard".. ;)

Yes, I guess dad was ahead of his time...he never even went to the corner store, unless accompanied by one of his various cameras...he loved taking pics...

He also loved to take movies, using the old movie cameras...he would take movies, and then would splice odd stuff into family vacation movies...he would order old time movies, and splice parts of those movies into his own home movies...they were a scream...

He had just begun converting lots of his film onto VCR tapes when he got sick...so eventually I will have to convert all that old movie film...he died, just before the computer explosion, and the digitial cameras..he would have been in heaven, with computer access and digital cameras...

But he saw the beginnings of the computer revolution...when Andy was just 15, my dad bought him his first computer, well, it was the Commodore 64...but dad felt computers were the wave of the future, and that Andy should be up to date, so dad bought him all the stuff he needed...that was in 1989, so it was still early in he advent of everyone having their own personal computers....but the Commodore 64, was a forerunner, more or less, and dad had the foresight to see that...

And Andy loved that Commodore 64, had tons of games and even typing discs, and educational stuff...he sure got immense use out of that...to this day, he still has the machine with all the discs, and it still works fine...Andy keeps it for sentimental reasons, being his first venture into the world of computers...Andys actually kept every single computer hes ever had...he also has all the computers from the company he worked for...when he was assigned the task of buying the company all their new computers, they were just going to throw out the old ones...not so fast, said Andy...he took them all home...

Then when that comany got bought out, the new parent company was going to throw out all the computers that the original company had bought, just the year before...and again, Andy took all those computers home...

So Andy has a computer collection...he has his own new computer for his own use, but just likes having and hanging onto all these older computers...odd collection to me, but then he thinks my dollies are an odd collection, so to each their own...

Yes, I am watching my tootsies, and trying to keep them safe and sound...a hard stubbing would really be awful, and would result in a stream of obscenities, that would hang in the air for some time to come...

Your little essay about different parts of the country had me laughing at myself, concernng living in the midwest...of course, I lived in the big city of Chicago, but when I was a kid, the farms and countryside, were not all that far from the heart of Chicago...

I remember so often going for Sunday drive, in the countryside, and often we were stuck behind a farmer, driving his tractor, and waiting our turn to pass him....

And of course, the Mayor, during my time, it was King Richard Daley the first, did not know my name...but our local politician, the precint captain did know my name, knew my family, and often dropped by for donuts, and coffee, and of course the usual political lingo...

And I still do end my sentences with prepositions, as in the example, and altho I know its grammatically incorrect, it still sounds fine to me...

Thanks for making me laugh at myself, I sure enjoyed it..

Guilty...I have been cruising on ebay, and spending up a storm...

My dad really was a scream and joker...my friends thought he was the greatest guy alive...they just loved him...when he died, I got tons and tons of cards from my old childhood friends, mourning his passing...

Dad always enjoyed little kids and teens more than he enjoyed most adults...he found most adults to be stody, and set in their ways, and too grim...he really enjoyed the exhuberance and spontaneity of the young people...

All my friends called him 'Pa'...to all the little toddlers and smaller kids, he was 'Uncle Jack', even tho he wasnt their real uncle...and to my kids and kids of their generation he was 'Pop-pop', even tho he wasnt their grandfather...he really was a very unique, eccentric, funny fellow, who loved life and lived it to its fullest...

When he died, I remember going through his things, and finding his notebooks full of plans for future projects, and some projects just begun, and not yet finished....I mentioned to Andy how sad it was that he died, never having finished up what he wanted to do...

Andy always said, "Mom, Pop-Pop could have lived to be 100, and he still would have not finished all his projects"...so true...

I have got a kick out of seeing old stock footgae from the Dem Chicago '68 Convention and watching Daley work the floor. He was like Hoffa. He carried both the air of order, security and violence in one person, and having watched so many Chicago cops talk about that convention, they still are pissed at the radicals for allowing Chicago to look like a den of thugs.

Hi Mom - that was the first email in over a month that I've had from my bil who's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

He goes under the knife this Tuesday - any thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.

Thank you.
