it's usually easier for me not to divide my focus
I loved all the posters I left behind at Lucianne's forum, but I gave my whole focus to FR when I moved over
at first I went back and forth between FR and this new site
I had friends here
and I enjoyed DD thread
I mostly lurked at new site, cept for occasional posts on political threads
then I decided to make new site my new home
but last night I dreamed I was back on DD
so this morning I came over

We've all got to do what makes us feel the best both about ourselves and the other posters on any thread, as well as what the thread itself is trying to accomplish.

AC can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the DD is moving away from the flames, the put-downs, and the general mean-spiritedness into which many forums seem to rapidly devolve. It's a place where friends and acquaintances put aside their politics, their conspiracy theories, and their prejudices in order to discuss more important issues such a ceiling inspections, mass awakenings, earthships, and drunken chickens and such.

Good afternoon....glad to see everyone..

Palo, thrilled that you stopped in to see us and post again...please, please, stay and visit...

All...I may not be here for the rest of today, or perhaps for a few days....dont know yet..

I got a phone call from Chicago, yesterday, informing me that my moms brother had died on Saturday...prostate cancer, which he had been battling for several years, finally got him and he died on Saturday...he had a number of other problems, so he was really having a very difficult time of it....

Couple that with the fact that his wife, my dear aunt, who is a sweet, sweet woman, is also very ill herself, and has been ill for a number of years with empheseyma(Spelling?)...Uncle Harry had been taking care of Aunt Lee, until he himself had gotten sick...with the both of them being ill, they did have some hired help coming in to assist them....

They had three children, two boys and a girl, all my first cousins....the girl, my cousin Denise, died many years ago...in fact she died just a year of so after my own brother had died...he died in 1981, at the age of 34, from a heart attack...she died in 1984, and the cause of death was never fully explained...she also was 34...

All we knew was that she was 9 months pregnant with her second child, and due to deliver any day...one morning she got up, and did not feel well, so her dear hubby, who was feeding breakfast to their 3 yr. old daughter, told my cousin to go back to bed, and when he was finished with their daughter, he would put her down for a nap, and come in and attend to my cousin...

That took him about 1/2 hour....when he returned to his wife, he says, he knew the minute he entered the bedroom, that something was wrong, just by how she looked, and the fact that she was so still...when he got next to her, he saw she was not breathing...called 911, and he began CPR..but it was to no avail...the docs said, that they believe as soon as she lay down and went to sleep, she died immediately....so naturally the baby inside her, a perfect little baby boy, also died....it was heartbreaking to all our family...my cousin was laid out at the funeral home, holding her unborn baby in her arms...

The autopsy revealed nothing concrete...just that my cousin had a slight case of pneumonia, had a slight heart murmur, and was 9months pregnant...they have always just surmised that the full term pregnancy, and the pneumonia, were too much for her heart, and it just gave out...it was all soooo sad, and tragic...

So poor Aunt Lee and Uncle Harry, suffered greatly with the loss of their daughter and grandson....and now, both being geriatric, and with medical problems of their own, they were trying to live out their lives...and so now, Uncle Harry has gone on to be with the Lord, and hopefully see his daughter, and grandson again...

Anyway, have been on the phone with my cousins, and aunt, and am awaiting what plans there are....I dont think that I will actually be going back to Chicago, yet, I dont know...things here are up in the air, and of course, my wonderful BigDom is supportive of me, no matter what I decide to do...

And this brings up this thought...we must love and be kind to those who are our friends, our family, our acquaintances, we need to treat others kindly, and never end a day with harsh words to those we love...

Our lives are but a short passage here on earth, for some shorter than others...Hate to wax philosophical here, but each time a member of my beloved family dies, my world is lessened and made smaller and sadder...

I thank God for all my friends here on DD, and for all my friends and family in real life...

Will let you know how things are going, and what I will be doing....

My heart goes out to you on the loss of your uncle and tragic circumstances of others in your family. The fact your uncle was suffering from prostate cancer does mitigate the loss somewhat as he is now without pain. The sad part is your aunt, suffering from emphysema herself, is left alone.

I saw this on FR several months ago perhaps these words would comfort her.
