I'm too mean to be one of the Smarts. For that matter, I'm too mean to be Torquemada. I do like Torquemada, lots of good thoughts, but sometimes too long. (Sorry, Torque. Hope you're not reading this, I doubt it, you didn't seem like the freerepublic type.)

Vinomori has some very witty acid-tongued comments which in my opinion were an asset to this forum. Of the 3 identities you've chosen for me today, I'd like to choose Vinomori, but only with Vinomori's permission, of course.

What about Elizabeth on the internet? It's entirely possible that she went to a chat room, if not at home, maybe at a friend's house. But I thought internet perverts lured youngsters to rape/death by having the kid meet them at a mall or something, not by sneaking into the kid's bedroom at night.

The Smart family is noticably quiet these days. Maybe out of respect for Ricci's funeral and 9/11? Or maybe they are reluctant to get involved in speculating on new suspects.

I know they couldn't have checked all such computers. Libraries generally have signs saying please don't use computer for chat rooms, but I'm sure many people do any way. Especially if they are teenagers violating their parents' rules.

I find it very hard to believe that Elizabeth never went on the internet. And yes, the stuff about her downloading music, but not going on the net, seems contradictory.

Let's face it, Ed can't definitely say his daughter never went to an internet chat room. But it's still a long way from visiting an internet chat room, and giving out enough information to a pervert to enable him to sneak into her house and abduct her.

About John Walsh on (retch!) Donahue-- Leave it to John Walsh to be more direct than Ed apparently can ever hope to be. Finally someone appears to have cut through the b.s. and given us a straight answer. "The most offensive part about this is that I had to actually watch 5 minutes of Donahue to hear the answer Walsh gave.:)" At last, something that you and I can agree 110% on!

This is news? This was obvious from the beginning. At least one of the press accounts said so AND there had to be a good reason for not publishing a sketch or even attempting one.

Saying the "kids" used his computer for downloading music doesn't imply that ALL his kids used his computer for the internet AND Ed specifically said ES didn't use the internet. There is nothing contradictory about that.

Try this. Draw a circle on the left side of a piece of paper and label it "Smart Kids". Draw another circle that overlaps the other one part way on the right side and label it "Internet Users". The Smart children that "use" the internet are in the overlapping portion of both circles. The other Smart children, including Liz, that don't use the internet are in the other part of the Smart circle that doesn't overlap. The remainder of the Internet Users circle depicts the remaining hundreds of millions of internet users (including you) who don't belong to the Smart family.

One photographer, who had photographed Elizabeth a few months before, handed out color prints to any media outlet that wanted it, before and after shooting the first press conference.

spore, found this paragraph in an article written for "SportsShooters" magazine. Found it very curious. Who was the person who photographed Elizabeth a few months before the alleged kidnapping, and why? And why was he handing out color prints before the first press conference?
