I understand that Loddy .. I just get the feeling he has recently gotten some big backers

I am sure you are right. When Clinton was in all his money came from Richard Mellon Scaife. I am sure there are some big Democrats behindhim now.

As I see it, the bottom line with Klayman is that he is an opportunist, an equal opportunity litigator. Clinton was president, so was a target, and Klayman had his reliable donors mailing list. Bush is President, so is a target, and Klayman has a (mostly new, with the exception of Loddy) donors mailing list. Same circus, different tent.

“Judicial Watch has no objection to IRS audits at the proper time and place, under correct, non-political circumstances. We have nothing to hide. But when we were told that we were being audited because we sued Bill Clinton, we had no choice but to stand up and fight in court. Now, for its own reasons, the Bush Administration is content to let Clinton appointee Rossotti continue to harass Judicial Watch.

DeLay, NRCC accuser owes them $20,000

A conservative watchdog group that has accused House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Texas) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) of illegal fundraising activities owes the committee as much as $20,000, according to documents obtained by The Hill.

Klayman kept saying he was not a conservative, but esentially an anti government group. No one on either side wold believe him.

He is not an opportunist, it was always his intention to go after whoever was in charge and he said so every chance he got. I like that. I think government needs to have to defend its every action. I think government is almost always wrong, no matter who is in office.

I think that by going after whoever is in charge IS being an opportunist. How much would he be getting in donations if he went after former gov't officials who committed crimes but aren't in power any more? And yes, he is anti-government, somebody has to do it. But I didn't see too much in the way of success when he was going after the Clintons, it just seemed a great way for him to collection donations. But then, I have a little bit of a cynical streak.

I guess I am just an oportunist too. I think sticking to going after people in power is a damned good thing, and none too safe. Why waste time on former government people? There are more important things to do.

Y'all believed the media when they lied and said he was a conservative, so now you feel betrayed that he isn't. I think that is at the bottom of all these 'oportunist' feelings.

I didn't say that going after the people in power was a bad thing. It's a good thing, at least there's a possibility of keepin' 'em honest. I never did trust Klayman when he was going after the Clintons - although I wished him success. So I'm not surprised he's going after this administration, but he knows where the money is. I'm not so sure that he goes after the gov't with the real hope of success, but with the hope of collecting donations. Call me cynical.

Calif. Woman Wins Bad Writing Contest

By BRIAN BERGSTEIN
Associated Press Writer

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)--With a putrid passage about a relationship gone bad, a word-puzzle creator who also crafts witty sayings for lapel buttons won the 21st annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest for horrible writing.

Rephah Berg of Oakland triumphed Monday over thousands of entrants from around the world with the following sentence:

``On reflection, Angela perceived that her relationship with Tom had always been rocky, not quite a roller-coaster ride but more like when the toilet paper roll gets a little squashed so it hangs crooked and every time you pull some off you can hear the rest going bumpity-bumpity in its holder until you go nuts and push it back into shape, a degree of annoyance that Angela had now almost attained.''

The judges at San Jose State University liked how her composition ``was a combination of something atrocious and appropriate,'' said Scott Rice, the professor who began the contest in 1982.

The contest, which seeks the worst beginning to an imaginary novel, is named for Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, a British writer whose 1830 book ``Paul Clifford'' begins with the oft-mocked cliche, ``It was a dark and stormy night ...''

more

.......Berg said she has been a copy editor for 25 years and began her career with a company that sells notes on lectures at the University of California, Berkeley.

She now creates word games (though not crosswords or word searches, she insists) for puzzle magazines and books.

She also occasionally sells slogans to makers of buttons and refrigerator magnets. She said her creations include: ``Another 12-step program and I still can't dance''; ``I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter''; and ``Martha Stewart doesn't (expletive) live here, OK?''

Berg's winning effort will bring her $250.

VH1 Considers Minnelli Reality Show

By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP)--In case delving into the private lives of Ozzy Osbourne and Anna Nicole Smith isn't enough, now a reality show about Liza Minnelli is in the works.

VH1 confirmed Monday that the cable music channel is in talks to develop a weekly series that would follow Minnelli and her new husband, producer David Gest.

The 56-year-old singer-actress married Gest in a lavish, star-studded ceremony in March.

Time magazine first reported plans for Minnelli's show in an article this week about Smith's E! reality series, ``The Anna Nicole Show,'' which premieres Aug. 4. In the same story, the magazine said rap mogul Sean ``P. Diddy'' Combs will have his own MTV reality show.

MTV has found its most popular series ever in ``The Osbournes,'' which follows the wacky home life of the heavy metal icon and his family. A second season is scheduled to begin this fall.

Other celebrities who've said they'd like to live their lives on camera include Cybill Shepherd and Gene Simmons. Brian ``Kato'' Kaelin, O.J. Simpson's famous former house guest, has taped three episodes of a show titled--appropriately enough--``House Guest.''

You can call me cynical, too. IMHO, Klayman's not interested in ferreting out corruption, he's too busy tip-toeing that line himself. It is the money. He is interested in the money. Period. I always felt him a major embarrassment who did more harm than good when he was going after Clinton. He is just as bad, if not worse, now.

why would these shows be interesting to anyone? Why would it be interesting following Liza Minelli around? I've never watched an of these reality shows, and don't plan to. Are these shows for people who don't have their own lives? My life isn't all that interesting most days, but why would I find someone else's to be of great interest? Apparently I wasn't born with the voyeur gene.
