Reagan's vision of America is still with us. The 1994 Congressional elections prove it. Republicans lost their vision and maybe their values in the aftermath of the loss of leadership surrounding Newt's embarrasing resignation. Free Republic lost part of its focus and vision as a result of the same events, but also from the distraction of the now concluded lawsuit.
Now it is time to put our house in order. Free Republic must focus on its primary mission in order to get the Republican Party back on track. Only the Republican Party can restore America to her former greatness by defeating the Democratic Party that led Americans away from freedom and down the road to serfdom through socialism. Arise Free Republic! Let the Reagan Renaissance begin!

Part of the problem is that Free Republic has been infiltrated by leftists (Libertarians) who support blasphemy, drug use, homosexuality, abortion, fornication, adultery, prostitution, immorality, and a host of other things that All true conservative despise and hate.

Bitch, bitch, bitch. This forum is as free and as entertaining as I could hope for. Perhaps you need to start your own: where there's a hell of a lot less going on.

Ask FF578. He seems to have all the answers to the hard questions.

The key is going to be as it has always been - public opinion. By and large, that's why politicians vote as they vote.

Only the Republican Party can restore America to her former greatness Sorry, but I laughed out loud so hard at this statement, my wife came running from three floors up to see what I was laughing at.
The problem is, the spineless, limp-wristed "leadership" that exists in the Republican Party. Trent Lott has got to go. He dealt away power to the Democrats when the party should've seized the control it rightfully had in the Senate. There is literally NO HOPE of regaining the Senate this year. Anyone who thinks there is, well I wnat some of what they're smoking/drinking/shooting up.
The House will be lost this November unless a MAJOR shakeup in House Leadership happens, and Conservatives (not the RINO's) are put back into leadership positions - ACROSS THE BOARD. The House is on the verge of being lost, despite what the Republican Party internal polling numbers say. Simply put: they're delusional if they think they can keep the status quo and keep the house.
Is Free Republic a failure? HELL NO. Free Republic day in and day out, points in a clear, concise manner what is wrong with our Government. We applaud it when it does something right, we criticize like hell when it does something wrong. If it weren't for FR, I'd have gone absolutely NUTS a long time ago. Hell, some people say I already have.

The only problem with FR is that it's addictive.

Free Republic has been infiltrated by leftists And by very negative folks with poor writing skills...
things that All true conservative despise and hate.

Originally the word liberal meant social conservatives(
no govt religion--none) who advocated growth and progress---mostly technological(knowledge being absolute/unchanging)based on law--reality...
UNDER GOD---the nature of GOD/man/govt. does not change. These were the Classical liberals...founding fathers-PRINCIPLES---stable/SANE scientific reality/society---industrial progress...moral/social character-values(private/personal)GROWTH!

Perhaps I should expand and clarify: It seems to me that 95% of the time, when a Freeper comments on something, implicit in that comment already is the subtext "so we better go elect some more Republicans." The "Chatting" that you deride is part of the fun. But I don't see how it detracts from anyone's activist inclination. You're not going to organize the far-right grouches who hate both parties to join you in line to vote any more than you'll organize the Democrap disruptors to do so. I think 99.9% of us are already voters who can already figure out who to vote for. And I like FR the way it is.

"By using any yardstick of your own choosing, there are few if any parameters in which conservatives can claim any improvement"
I'd disagree on one respect: Education. More people now understand more of what is going on than ever, and cable news and the internet are the mediums of this education. Free Republic is a major player on the Internet.

Yeah. I'm not much on deriding newbies, but it's difficult to have much respect for ff578's perspective on FR when he/she has been a member for... what?...8 months? Yep, what an incisive view into the changes here!

Part of your problem, and frankly part of everyone's problem, is that most folks don't think like we (each of us as individuals) do. That's the conundrum: we've got this great place - FR - to market our own ideas, but, lo-&-behold, maybe everyone isn't buying 'em. To say that we should shut down the marketplace because they aren't buying our products is BOGUS, BAConservative. If you have a problem because folks on this site are not up to par, you have only yourself to blame: YOU have not convinced the other folks at the marketpalce how valuable your ideas are. For heaven's sake, don't blame the messagebearer.
