Sweet....start preparing yourself now to see a lot of sights and sites that will turn your stomach. And it seems like no matter how you prepare yourself, the feeling of sadness is overwhelming. You KNOW how it was supposed to look and loved how it looked....and now....

Here's a pic of the Colorado River in an area that was hit by the fires.
To: Rowdee
The colors created by the setting sun on the water was so pretty.

Actually, I think I will probably stay away from Glenwood this trip. But there is a lot of devastation closer to home too. I know it will be hard to see it.
To: sweetliberty
Its like the colors are playing around trying to keep from uniting.
Those fires over here and Montana....burned vegetation down to the waterline in the Bitterroot River...and even jumped the river in a number of spots. And that's an eerie sight....seeing black right down to the lapping water!

Those pictures of the river are actually 2 rivers that come together on the Continental Divide. That just happened to be a stiller part of it. At one point the river is running in two directions and it DOES look like the rivers are wrestling with each other. It is really neat.

Oh my gosh... it's like hell has escaped and is running wild in God's country.
How metaphorical.
Good to see you again, stranger.

I'm pretty sure Prentice is a contractor, but I wouldn't swear it's so -- I was once pretty sure I saw a bear in the backyard, but it turned out to be a cow. (It was NIGHT and I couldn't find my glasses)

Hello Val...*wavin'*...good to see you too!....I truly am Lost...*L*....I can never find ya'll anymore....
Don't even know how I got here...*LOL*

Thank you.....I've had a number of friends who still reside in Montana (my real, real home) e-mail that pic before those horrid fires were out.
To sit and really study that picture was such a sad experience. I felt so sorry for the wildlife were affected by all the loss of habitat--and I know there were lots lost {here in Idaho, we even lost over 600 head of cattle), but the reproductive losses of wildlife will be felt for years to come.
I know how important it is to get good snow cover in the high country because it helps with drought and irrigation the following year; but frankly, I've been happy the snow hasn't been all that bad the last couple of years--wildlife relocating to new ranges to survive puts additional pressure of numbers on the new ranges--but we can't afford to lose all the wildlife.
I will NEVER forgive fedgov or the environuts for the damage over the last 3 years.
