it is helpful to know the latin root for words
I wish I did
sometimes it helps my understanding
one day I realized encourage has the french word coeur (heart) as its basis
so encourage must mean give heart to
and discourage means take the heart right out of it
after that I was very careful about discouraging anyone
cause I didn't want to take the heart right out of them

I sure do miss my dad...he was so funny, and you never knew what he was going to do or say next...I guess, I should just be happy, that I was blessed with him...
Another nice warm sunny day here...I do believe, that summer has finally arrived in Western Washington...we have had really nice weather lately....
Dizzy is all curled up on top of a box...he likes to always be up high, on a chair, or sofa, or box, when he sleeps...does not sleep too often on the floor...I think for Christmas I will buy him some sort of kitty house on a pole...I think cats just like to be up high, so they can observe everthing around them, from on their high lofty position...
To: andysandmikesmom
hi cookie
I am glad summer has finally arrived for you, you had long wait
yes cats love to be up high
I had a siamese who loved sleeping on top of frig
and I remember having a friend whose cat slept on top of piano
of course I had a little lamp on top of my frig, so maybe kitty liked the warmth
and there was lamp on top of piano
it's such a joy sharing home with cats, I hope one day Happy and Lulu let me have a cat again

Whew....got stuck over on the CAnteen thread...some of the posters were talking about their memories, from living in Chicago, which is my old home town...its fun to talk about growing up in Chicago....
I remember when you were on a thread, talking with other posters about life as a child and teen, and young adult, growing up in New York City...
Its such fun to talk with people, who have the same remembrances as you do, from your childhood homes...

One time when we were living in North Carolina, one of our cats just disappeared...we knew he was in the house, but we could not find him...so we just let it alone, and figured out that he would eventually appear when he felt like it...
Hours later, I was out in the kitchen, getting dinner ready...then I noticed something hanging down from the very top shelf of a cabinet...the cabinet door was closed, but hanging out of the narrow part that was open, was a long cat tail...
Apparently the cat had jumped up into the cabinet, crawled to the back, and just slept in there all day long...when he got into that cabinet, I guess the door just closed on its own, and it was nice and dark, and he just went to sleep...
Silly cat...
To: andysandmikesmom
my cat would jump into my file cabinet when drawer was open
I wouldn't know he was in there and would close the drawer
hours later I would open it for something and cat would jump out
I guess they just sleep in there

I had fun on Queens thread cause Queens has no image
so it was interesting finding out what Queens is like
the other boroughs of NYC have image, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx
plus you are right, it sure brought back memories

Cats just seem to like to be in tiny little spaces...they like nothing better than to curl up in some little space, and just sleep away...
When we had cats as kids, we used to take old cardboard boxes, and cut out little doors and windows for the cats...our two girl kitties would go in and out of our little cut out doors...we sure enjoyed that...

I kid you not, but I took Latin from grade 6 throught to grade 13...yes, we have grade 13 in Ontario.Used to read Caesar's Gallic Wars, The Aeneid, Cicero, Ovid, the whole shebang....hard to remeber it now ;-)
To: palo verde
Yikes...it got to 85 degrees today...thats nearly downright hot, at least for this area....tho Palo, I suspect, you would find 85 to be quite refeshing...
To: andysandmikesmom
Hi Mom....I think Palo was wearing her special "kiss me" shoes when she served her egss today ;-)
I think it would have been funny if your mom had said to the passengers as she was getting off that bus that her left hook is even better than her straight right ;-)LOL
To: andysandmikesmom
If it went to 85, Palo would be in a sweater and catching a cold...
To: habs4ever; palo verde
That would have been a funny thing for my mom to say...tho, I suppose at the time, she was just in a hurry to get off that bus...but thinking back on it, she probably wishes she had thought of something snappy like that to say...
Palo, wearing her "kiss me" shoes, and a sheer see through apron(with nothing else underneath)...this would have all been too much for Bill...he would have forgotten all about his scrambled eggs...
To: habs4ever; palo verde
Yep, you are right about Palo and the 85 degrees...I just dont think I could take it where she lives...all those blasting high temps would do me in...
I think it would be wonderful there in the winter, but in the summer, I prefer the maritime summer of Western Washington...thats hot enough, at least for me...
To: andysandmikesmom
lol you have vivid imagination
I served breakfast in what I am posting in
sundress
altho it is sundress I would not wear outside without underwear, cause of too skimpy and sheer
but it is 106
rofl I would call 85 a cooling front now
Love, Palo
