"Why are Republicans afraid to call socialist idiots, 'socialist idiots??'

How about cause they have the spine of a jellyfish. It doesn't make any sense really. What's there to fear when you're right?

What made you ask?

I was acting on a priority directive from Them.

Name: G. Wharff Ratt.
Rank: Expendable Peon, 3rd class.
Serial Number: 000.420

I can't answer any other questions about this classified incident.

I was thinking that she was looking for attention - a kind of Munchausens by proxy twist. Like nurses that stop a patient's breathing so they can resucitate him and be a hero. She originally reported she smelled the fire and valiantly tried to put it out, but it was too big for little ol' her. She also said she saw a family in a minivan (I think) leave the scene of their smoldering campfire -- so maybe her agenda was to get citizens out of the forests and leave all the wilderness to the "professionals." hmmmmmmm

Or they are afraid to pull their noses from the taxpayer-funded trough. I am not sure if they have the balls to confront the 'perma-victim mindset' running rampant these days.

My printer crapped out on me several weeks ago and I didn't do anything about it. I called Tech Support, they had me run a couple of tests on it, then the man sighed and said they'd have to replace it. I got the new one delivered on tuesday but haven't installed it yet. As if it were a difficult and time-consuming task. Maybe I'll get around to it today. I kinda miss having a functioning printer.

It's cold and foggy still this morning, and the heater is running again. I'll still go out to the reservoir to walk, and I'll take my camera. Might get some interesting fog scenes. Lots of birds out there. I'll just have to dress warmly. Global warming? Not here.

Oh, them - they are quite the pests. If you explain in Freepmail, I won't tell them that you did.

I'll switch to my laptop and install Black Ice on this big PC.

When it's foggy you can get nice close up pictures of flowers, animals and people, because you don't have bright sunlight or harsh shadows messing up the exposure, expressions and colors.

I took this really early on a foggy morning (yesterday) and the colors are true (no photoshop tampering) without bright spots washing out details.

The stories just get more outrageous every day. And the sheer volume of them is mushrooming. Do any of these leftist fools even remember what happened on 9/11 as anything other than the day that made right wingers start commiting hate crimes against Muslims?

It's pretty strange to have this much fog this far inland this time of year. It should be warm and clear. I still don't have a digital camera, and have been shopping around a little bit. I don't want a cheapie, but don't want to spend a huge sum of money, either. I know so little about digitals, I don't know what to look for. I've always liked the SLR's for the ability to fiddle with exposures and shutter speed. I haven't played with my photography for many years, for a variety of reasons, but am interested in starting up again for fun. My SLR is an ancient Pentax ME Super, but I lack accessories for it now. It doesn't have autofocus, which is OK for me. I had a motor drive for it, but I guess the years of disuse ruined it - it doesn't function anymore. I don't even know if I can still get lenses for it. I wonder if any Pentax mount lense will work with it? Or, I could stop being so cheap and just buy a new damm camera!

If you explain in Freepmail

Do you know your own IP address??

I am checking to see if somebody who was checking up on me, could be the person I am checking about.

Disclaimer: I am polka dotted, not checked.

I'll have to dig through my old slides - I remember one I took in winter, of moisture dripping off catkins of a willow tree at the edge of Payette Lake - a nice closeup. All of my old decent photos were slides. I'll have to hunt through them, have prints made and share a little bit. I also took a number of photos in Utah and Arizona of the desert country. A few of them were pretty good. I have slides of Delicate Arch (Arches National Park) at sunset. I walked up there by myself on a full moon night. Waited for the moon to rise, then hiked out. What a beautiful night!

Now, if I could just figure out some way that Steve Jobs could fry, without taking Apple with him.

You do that and I will buy a couple of apples.

I'll drag out my Pentax for this trip this morning. I have a close-up lense (now I don't even remember what it's called - duh) and a zoom, but it's not a huge one. I never did buy a lot of lenses for the camera. I made do with what I had.

Macro! That's it! Macro!

Fox just reported that 4 firefighters were killed and 3 more injured in a car crash on the way to fight the Hayman fire in Colorado.

I talked to Dawn last night late. She said that things are looking better and the fire had not jumped the Rampart Range road, which is what they were most concerned about, so the standby alert for evacuations is off in Woodland Park, Monument, and Palmer Lake.

Glad to hear things are looking a little better for your daughter. When these fires get going, the fuel build-up is huge, it's dry and the wind is blowing, you can throw as many firefighters and tankers with retardant at it that you can muster up, but that fire isn't going out until the weather changes for the better.

A polka-dotted Ratt? That must be a true sight to behold, if not a wonder of nature. Of course it would be best if they were green polka-dots. That would make Nully happy and he could quit fretting about green mammals.

It looks like Arizona is the big trouble spot now. Multi-million dollar houses in gated communities have burned down. They can keep out the riff-raff, but not the fires.

I have freckles... not quite polka-dotted - much more random and dense.
