I really have a difficult time trying to eat crawfish. I'm just not southron enough yet, I guess. Here's a native son for you:

That last comment was from Scotslass. Somehow my screen name popped up on her computer. We need to sort this out, maybe take mine off somehow and I can remark on her name. Darlin' how do we do this? Don't Wings and the Judge sometimes post off your puter?? I don't want to log off and then have to go through all the rigamarole of joining again.
To: ValerieUSA
I thought they were called "crawdads"...we better ask Swervie.
To: Cuttnhorse
They all seem to have their own personalities and to hav e a trick or two.
I didn't realize just how much I miss cattle til yesterday while I stood and watched a b-i-g bull calf trying to stop his Momma so he could hve lunch! He'd dtry to butt her head or her shoulder to stop; and then he'd try the walking backwards while trying to get his head down to her udder; she just kept on plodding along with her bag swinging side to side--she was following the herd to the shade tree first!!

You can both post from the same computer but not at the same time. One has to log out and the other log in. The most convenient way is to do what Wings and Flash do, they share the post and just put their name after their comment. i.e. "Hey, Baby--Wings" LOL :)

Some people do call them "crawdads" but we just laugh and try to teach those "po folks" how to appreciate the delights of .... eating crawfish. LOL. I can't repeat the more colorful local term for eating boiled crawfish. LOL Swerve, OTOH, is bold enough to tell ya. LOL

I'm guessing you're talking about boiled crawfish that hasn't been peeled. There is an art to it, onc you learn how to do it quickly and efficently all you have to be concerned about is the damage to your manicure. LOL See ya. :)

LOL Swerve, OTOH, is bold enough to tell ya. LOL Why Miss Darlin'. you know I would never use a phrase like
"Pinchin' Tail and Suckin' Head"
on a public forum like this.
I sure do miss my mudbugs. I can get the bags of tail meat in crawfish fat, but if I'm gona have boiled crawfish, I will have to order a sackful and do it myself.

CG has been telling me who some of you are so that I will be able to feel at home.
I didn't do it.
Nobody saw me do it.
You can't prove anything.
To: Darlin', all
In Texas, crawfish = crayfish = crawdads = crawdaddies = mudrollers.
At least in NE Texas, where I last saw them. ;-)

"I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything" Guilty conscience Ratt? Scotslass, Ratty fancies himself a real ladies' man. He's harmless though...from a distance. You should be relatively safe.

'They' have recordings of it all.
'They' know what Eevil lurks in the hearts of Ratts.

Yep, we sure miss our girls...we sold our little herd to Scott and Kim Kesl when we came down here.
I especially miss them during calving time.
To: Cuttnhorse
We were working on upgrading our herd to all Simmental; Gene took an AI course and I studied the sire summaries, and selected which bulls to breed with which cows.
I really loved that part of it--and of course, calving season. That last year we had 14 homegrown 1st calf heifers that we bred to a Simmental bull (by then Gene was too sick to be able to handle a day of AI'ing). And then about a month before calving, he insisted we sell all the girls off because he was afraid, even though they were really tame, that I might get hurt accidentally.
The guy who bought the first-timers was in hog heaven--3 of them gave him twins--he used the extra babies to put on his own cows who lost babies!
The fella who bought the rest of the herd called me a little upset or concerned about one of the younger cows--I had named Velvet because she looked like a pearlized smoky pink color--he was concerned that she wasn't much of a milker because her bag wasn't really big. I told him if her calf wasn't one of the biggest 10 of his cow herd come weaning I'd buy her back--she produced so much hi quality milk and her babies grew incredibly fast. Needless to say, I never bought her back. :)

I'm back --- went for a drive in the country to take pictures in the evening light and ended up in Crawford again. *L* All roads lead to Crawford?

Are you and I the only ones left who don't have a life?
