Vanity-ring-ping! :-)
To: maquiladora
He told me his sister bought it 'somewhere'...Sounds like a really cool story already! I love it... Haven't finished reading your review yet! but wanted to thank you for the ping!

Great! I think I know someone who has that version... maybe. The bootleg I have does have good picture, but lousy sound, I really look forward to having good sound. (On the new system I am going to have to buy!)
Really, the year is zooming on toward August!... and New Line is already pre-selling the extended version for November! - Can we wait? NO! - will we wait? You bet!
Ecurbh... you around to ping the ringers?
To: HairOfTheDog
You'll love the sound quality...it's fantastic!
For some reason, the noise of Pippin knocking the chain/bucket/skeleton down the well in Moria sounded much louder than I remember it at the movies.
I heard the voice of the ring a lot better too.

I'm waiting for the Rated R version....

I'll have to buy a better TV than the one I have.... with stereo sound!
I do know what you mean about picking up new things on the small screen... In the theater, sitting too close as I always do, I was always forced to focus on just one face, just one part of the screen... On the small screen you actually can see the "big picture".

I'm waiting for the Rated R version.... Is there going to be one?
To: Texaggie79
I haven't heard one official thing about it being re-rated... and it is now finished I think. The added scenes I know of are not even in the fight sequences. They are in the Shire and in Lothlorien... So I am not sure where they could find a reason for an R.
I hope you aren't disapointed if your rumor turns out to be false, they lopped the guy's head off already... What more do you want? :~D

Actually, I read that the only extra violent part in the extended edition is a small new addition to the fight with the Orcs at Amon Hen near the end, but I think it was still weak enough to escape with a PG-13.

They have nothing at all to gain by making it R...
To: HairOfTheDog
I don't think they were adding some things to make it R, they were just adding some fight footage of Merry and Pippin, showing them fighting more, side-by-side with Boromir.... The R would come from a quantity issue--i.e., going over the allowed quota of sword thrusts or arrow strikes. However, I haven't heard any more about that, and the last thing I read seemed to indicate that the stories circulating about a possible R-rating was nothing more than rumor and speculation.

Great! I think I know someone who has that version... maybe. Gee, who might that be??? ;)
Actually, the opening fanfare for the studio is new to me, but starting from the beginning of what was seen in the theater (the NewLine logo appearing with just a whisper and echo of sound) this sounds very, very familiar. I noticed the quality of the sound too, it's quite wonderful, even on my little computer speakers. It literally rumbles and vibrates my apartment at times....
Hmmmmm, come to think of it, I haven't actually sat down and watched it for a while, methinks another viewing is in order...

Really, the year is zooming on toward August!... Yes and only 187 days, 10 hours, 13 minutes and 45 seconds till TTT!!
To: HairOfTheDog
HUH??? But there were actual articles on it. I posted one I think. More violence!!! More Violence!!!!!!!!!!!
To: Texaggie79
Yeah, I saw your article...but none of the articles or rumors since ever confirmed any change in rating, that I have seen anyway... the description at new line for pre-ordering it doesn't mention it.
I am glad... I don't need any more violence... I want more happy parts! Is that just 'cuz I am a wimpy girl?
To: HairOfTheDog
It said that version wouldn't be released till november...
To: Penny1
the NewLine logo appearing with just a whisper and echo of sound... I'm certain it was different than the spooky, misty whispery logo that I saw at the movies. Yep.
And oh yeah, I forgot to mention, every 30 minutes or so some text scroll would scroll along the bottom of the screen saying "Property of New Line Cinema. Not for rent/resale"...
Or something to that effect. Hehe, I was too busy watchin the movie to pay much more attention.

I wanna see more beheaded and dismembered orcs
