Welcome back...
To: RangeRatt
Hey there RR! Glad to see you! How's your new life going?
To: Rowdee;null and void
Happy to be back, as a cat with a mouse indeed...gainfully employed, and happy. Money, I guess, isn't everything, especially when family is involved. (but it sure beats the hell out of whatever is in second place, no?)

"It's just a joke to think that this witness can provide members of the United States Senate with information on important geological and water quality issues," Voinovich said Wednesday. "We're either serious about the issues or we're running a sideshow."
Bravo. That is a quote from Senator Voinovich (R-Ohio) who boycotted a hearing of an Environment and Public Works subcommittee this week to protest an appearance of Backstreet Boy, Kevin Richardson who came to testify against the coal mining technique known as mountaintop removal. I realize celebrities have made appearances before various committees for several decades but the flood gates were opened during the Clinton years and it has become a joke. It is Streisandistis. You know it is bad when the LA Times oh so liberal Ron Brownstein is moved to say:
Celebrities looked to politicians to validate them as part of the company of serious men and women. Politicians looked to celebrities to validate them as part of the company of the famous."
Celebrities take causes to Capitol

as I have said, it beats the alternatives.

I'll bet the kids and their mom are happy to have dad and husband back home where he belongs. I love to see the reunions where families are waiting on the tarmac or at the docks for servicemen to return to them.
To: Darlin'
sheeeeesh... a backstreet boy? Hey, I'll bet his input is every bit as valuable as the reports by environmental "experts" from any university or gov't agency.
To: ValerieUSA
it wasn't exactly like that, Val, but it was close- my wife couldn't get on the base, I couldn't get a cab, and I had to get a ride with someone I really disliked in order to get to my hotel...but the reunion, well, it was great!

Here's a tiny, fragile butterfly - it's very difficult to get them to hold still for a picture

You touched all of our hearts in those last few days at your old location. We all wanted you to get home to your family so much. :) We forgive you for taking so long to rejoin us but we hope to see more of you now that you've reappeared.

Family is the most important, for sure. I remember well how miserable you were off in some island in the Atlantic with family f-a-r away.

I got sidetracked by the medical shows on TV earlier, so I have to go shake a tower and make a late night run to the grocery store now. BBL

File this one under, Say What ?
This afternoon our parish tax assessor was found dead. According to the oddly worded headline on a local TV web site, "Suicide is blamed". No note was found. I suppose he shot himself but the coroner's statement was a little cloudy, "... Cataldie ruled Granger died from a self-inflicted head trauma, but declined to elaborate." Say what ?
