In the Steyn article he points out the most infuriating irony...if some stub-toothed hillbilly from Arkansas, who wasn't a former president of the US, would have said any of the things that Atta did, the guy would have been tossed out in the street. Everyone is so darned afraid of offending anyone these days it has become deadly.

Flash, I hear ya. The bashers are a smallish group of the same ole malcontents who travel in packs from one thread to another. It you read their post they always angry, bitter, single issue, wackos. Most of them use the Constitution like a shield, purport to be well versed on the Constitution when in reality they have shaped an interpretation of it to their warped thinking. The worst ones are usually the ones who claim to be Losertarians Libertarians. Because they invade every thread and pat each other on the back, it appears we have more of them than we do. Some of them use more than one screen name too.

I think conservatives might be a bit more trusting of government right now if a more thorough sweep had been done in federal agencies to get rid of Clinton appointees and incompetent employees.
I understand why President Bush is reluctant to do it, but the right thing isn't always an easy task. He'll suffer some criticism from the left and the media (same thing) but he's going to be criticized by them anyway, no matter what he does.

Isn't that pathetic? These pushy posters who demand so much attention to their single-minded viewpoints that they use several identities to praise themselves. I wonder if they actually high five their own two hands?

Mo, Ringy, catpuppy and I regularly battle with the loonies out there all the time. They are voracious posters so it looks like we have more of them than we do. They post the same things day after day on thread after thread. FR has several very well versed warriors who can usually counter them better than most. You might want to watch for them, they're great. Miss Marple, Howlin, Grampa Dave are especially effective.

A few weeks later, another September 11th killer showed up, Marwan al- Shehhi, seeking half-a-million bucks supposedly to buy a sugar-cane farm. Accompanying him was Mr. Atta, but he was cunningly disguised with a pair of glasses...

Yeah, I'm sure a pair of glasses could have hidden Atta's piercing black demonic eyes of hate. I don't know how anyone could ever forget that face after seeing it just once.

A horrible irony is that when Atta didn't want to do business with Bryant because she was a mere woman -- he was right to be contemptuous of her. She earned it. A man would never have been fascinated with the "cultural differences" and let him get away with the threats. I hate to admit that I have known women who were silly enough that they would have wanted to "help him adjust," too.
Someone can shoot me for this, but I'll bet Bryant is obese.
