Good afternoon all...I am thinking today, about D-Day, the sixth of June, and what it all means...
My husbands father landed at Omaha Beach, at Normandy, and altho he survived, he was never, ever the same, and never had what one could call a good or easy life...he was too haunted all of his life, haunted by what he saw and experienced...
And secondly my Michael was born on June 6th...we always called him the 'D-Day kid'...So today would have been his 32nd birthday, and it just makes me sad, that he is not here to celebrate with us...he died when he was just 15, so to us, he will always be 15...
So today, is just a day of ups and downs for me...hard to not cry because Michael is not here, hard to not be happy, when remembering his birth and the joy he brought into our lives...
Palo, please, give me a pool report and a Lulu report, when you are done with your swimming...
Christine...good news one your trees....if God listens to prayers for trees, of course, I will pray, and send happy tree thoughts...

I like that line about the cops selecting a community to live for its "singular lack of diversity"!! LOL...they've had enough PC!!

Thanks for letting us know over on the Canteen thread. War is hell. And why do we still send our babies to die? If it, war, is just, why don't they let us old f#cks go and do it?
If anyone can answer this question, please do so. JL

Bill finished his letter to Rusty 45 minutes ago
and we drove to library to print it up
the field mice moved into my printer during winter, it no longer works
I'm sure it's a great letter, he gave it his whole heart and worked on it hard for long time
it printed up as 6pp single space
They didn't have one of your books there habs
so I took out 2 mysteries by Sharon McCrumb
girl in pool said they are good stories
we will see

Yes, war is hell, and so many of our young die...they die, before they have really known life at all...and their death affects their parents and grandparents, siblings, spouses, and children...a whole family suffers when each young military person dies in war, or in military service...
That is why it is important to remember what they were fighting for, why they died...
When we forget why they died, and forget what they were fighting for, then we are in danger of losing those very things they were fighting for, and we dishonor them...
The young people of today, should be taught long and hard, why it is that young men and women went to war, and died, or suffered...

Smoooches Mom.. My heart is with you... It's a sad/bittersweet day for you.. The older we get the more memories we have..and all are not happy or good ones.. Anniversaries are sometimes wonderful and sometimes hell.. The worst thing in the world for a parent is to outlive a child.. You have friends here.. We love you...

hi andysmom
I am sorry about Mike
My first dog, Spes, went to Heaven on 6/6/87
Altho I heard St Gabriel blew his trumpet on 6/6/96
Today is spiritual day

Thanks Gran...being here at FR helps me today...every year on this date, I watch the clock, and when the hour and minute of Mikes birth comes, I smile...for he was a blessing to us, and tho he is gone, that blessing still remains in our hearts
Thanks for the kind thoughts, kisses and love..
To: palo verde
Yes, Palo, it is a spiritual day...perhaps Mike has met your dog...I know hes up there with the two bassets from his past, Jones and Bridgeport...
Mike died just a few months before Helga was born..but I am sure, since Helga has since gone on, she has introduced herself to Mike...

you'd be a good campaign manager for a libertarian
Jesse Ventura didn't need that cause he was in show business first
I don't like negative campaigning tho
no reason to attack anyone
(and attacking rebounds on one who does it)
lol you were only one who picked up the irony in my post on libertarian thread
Love, Palo

hi andysmom
I am sure Mike is with Helga now
and with your other dogs too
I grieved for 4 years for Spes
I won't do that again
she was my first dog, I didn't know any better, I let the hurt sweep me away too much and too long
it would overjoy me for Mike and Helga and Spes to all be together
I wasn't going to mention June 6th on thread
but when you did, how could I not empathize
I love you
Palo
