"why didn't Clinton do anything"

He tried. Didn't you hear him say so? What? You don't believe him? Why not? He is SO honest.

There has been so much LYING going on for so many years, that the liars are confused now:

... National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska contains far more oil than previously expected, ... THE NEW Geological Survey assessment estimates that the recoverable oil reserves beneath the federally owned part of the reserve, ... are between 5.9 billion and 13.2 billion barrels. ... some 1.3 billion to 5.6 billion barrels would be economically viable at market prices between $22 and $30 a barrel,... In its last full-scale assessment, in 1980, the agency estimated oil reserves between 300 million and 5.4 billion barrels.

Sorry Val, but that is the way Petroleum Geology is.
Every time any formation anywhere has been reevaluated with new methods it has been found to contain far more than originally thought. That is because estimates are made conservatively. It is not a lie, it is just better technology and better estimating methods.

"it stinks of the Clinton years"

When I was on the way home today our local station had a talk show on and the topic was the Arkansas hall of shame....black eyes on the state of Arkansas. Incredibly long list and more politicians than you could imagine. What was funny was that nobody actually said Clinton for awhile and when somebody finally did it was like stating the obvious. The host responded by saying that obviously he was the poster boy for the Arkansas Hall of shame.

Maybe you can exchange your train tickets to Las Vegas for some to San Jose.

Train Tickets? Train Tickets? I would be safer traveling by cannon as a human cannonball than on Amtrack.

In 1980 the enviro wackos were still fighting the pipeline -- they would never have allowed such a high estimate to be reported. Now they are fighting ANWR drilling, so it's time to change their tune.

"time for the White House to come clean"

Like they did when issues were raised when they were the residents?

I know it seems like a terrible thing to say but I think there are probably some of them that wouldn't be all that upset by it if it happened near election and in a setting which they could use to their political advantage. They have no scruples and no conscience to speak of....at least that is certainly how it appears to me.

BINGO! and Amen!

I travelled from Sacramento to Centralia Washington on Amtrak a few years ago in the summer.... it was quite the ordeal waiting around the station without A/C or pop machines or working water fountains (or status reports on the train) in the bad part of town all night for a train that was 6 hours late. But once I was on the train it was a good ride with spectacular scenery that is usually passed through at night, but we got to see the mountains in the daytime.

That is true. America, at least the part capable of thinking, does not believe George W Bush allowed 9-11 to happen and they never will. However, it does not mean that a few fools like McAuliffe, Brazile and Kamber wand a few dozen otheres won't keep repeating this trash through 2004. It has to be stopped now or else it will be dredged up by every goofy talking head on the DNC payroll until we're all ill.
