And I remember before we had our nifty automatic washing machines, my mom had the old wringer type washer down in the basement...put all those clothes in the tub, and have to get the water in there, and then rinse them out, and then pull them through the wringer, one piece at a time...and often a piece had to go through the ringer more than once, to get all the excess water out...
So washing clothes was really an all day project...and ironing the families clothing was an all day project...I remember, my mom always washed on Tuesday, and she spent all day washing...and Wednesday was ironing day, and she spent all day ironing...
Ah we ladies today, have it much easier, with our automatic washers and dryers...and perma press clothing...
Its no wonder, to me, that often when you look at pictures of my moms generation, and the ladies look so much older than we do at the same age...heck, their day sure had a lot more of grungy, hard work...
Makes me appreciate my dear momma all the more....

Now theres a memory...cooking popcorn on the stove...in our house, we had a special big pan, and cover, that was used for one thing, and one thing only, popping popcorn...
Now, I happen to just love popcorn, and I bet I made popcorn 5 nityes out of seven...so that pan sure got used...it was never, ever washed...just wiped out the excess oil and grunge that was left from popping...what a grand memory...
Now the most fun we ever had with popping corn on the stove, happened when I was downstairs of my parents, visiting with my aunt and uncle and cousins....my aunt decided to pop some popcorn for us kids...so she got out her pan, heated up the oil, when the oil was hot, added the popcorn, and then...YIKES...she could not find the lid for the popcorn pan....and you know when the popcorn kernels hit the hot oil, they begin to pop almost right away....
Well, by the time my aunt finally found the lid to the pan, probably 2/3 of the popcorn had popped and flew right out of the pan...there it was, popcorn flying all over the kitchen, and 4 wild crazy kids trying to catch it, and laughing the whole time....we thought it was just grand to have popcorn flying all over...
We sure were deflated when auntie found the lid and put it on the pan....we were having such a good time, and she went and ruined it...
We always begged her to do that again, but alas, that was thought to be a waste of money, by allowing all that popcorn to fly all over...but it sure entertained and delighted us little devilish kids at the time...

I had a cat that looked like that one. Called her 'Mimi'. Kinda eerie to see a pic that looks like her online. (She was an odd mix. Her father was big enough to be more than half bobcat......) Mimi looked more like a Norwiegian Forest Cat, though. Had the ruff on her chest and the ear tips and cheek tufts. And that tail... mind of it's own. Weighed in at 22 pounds, all muscle. Was a very affectionate cat. I raised her from a little ball of fluff and attitude that could barely peek over the cup of my hand.
Geez, I'm a long winded SOB tonight. Must be the memories of that cat o' mine. (Some will dispute this, but I dare them to try and prove me wrong. If you mix a Bobcat and a domestic cat, the resulting half-breed will still be fertile. Just don't get it mad. Where I used to live in Vernon, N.J. the bobcats and housecats were crossbreeding. Got alot of funny results there.....)
