You know, something I just cannot understand is how anybody can say that the situation with these terrorists is just too complicated and you can' deal with them this way or that way, but in essence you have to "understand" them and placate them. Bulls**t! I forget what it was on last night but there was some stupid a** Palestinian sympathizer, an Arab at that, talking about these peoples' rights, specifically students to come to the US and study. Have I missed something? I thought it was a PRIVILEGE and NOT a right! The person arguing on the other side of the issue was the one with the logical argument in my opinion. He believes, as I do, that ALL student visas from countries that are known to sponser terrorism be suspended indefinitely until an acceptable resolution is attained. What is so radical about that? One of the few things where the government is actually given authority by the constitution is in immigration policy. And what do they do? Not much of anything that I can see. It just makes no sense to me. Some try to argue that it is about the freedom of America, but when a policy compromises national security and threatens your very way of life, how can it be justified? We need to just say no to these people and if they don't like it, oh well. I don't believe we have any obligation to please them any more than they would us if the situation was reversed.

In celebration of Senior Citizen's Day, here is another excerpt from Salmon River Ruralite, The Secrets of Long Life.

--->snip<---

Chuck Burke, of ____________, Oregon, is 81, but he could pass for a much younger man. He has the lean, muscular physique of someone half his age. {FOOTNOTE BY ME: This appears to be accurate based on the picture provided of he and his wife working out in a gym]

Chuck spends three days a week on the tennis court, followed by time in the gym, and swimming pool. In all, he works out two to three hours a day.

"On Monday I play a game of tennis with another couple. On Wednesdays and Fridays I work out on the ball machine for a half-hour," Chuck says, smiling, then adds, "When you turn 80, use of the ball machine is free."

Chuck sheds his sweatshirt and starts working out on one of the weight machines. His wife, Bobbie, 74, does a few repetitions on a machine, then stops to watch Chuck. She giggles and confesses, "I just love his muscles."

Chuck just grins.

Chuck and Bobbie have been married almost 56 years. They have a special relationship that has helped them endure both life's good times and bad times.

"I got a gem when I found Chuck," Bobbie says. "We have something special very few people do."

"We complement each other," Chuck adds, "She's a worrier. I level her out."

************

To all those who are already married, or who want to be, or those anticipating the event, I truly hope 50 years down the road that you, too, can stop to admire your mate and say, "I just love his muscles".

I believe we should both respect and trust until a person gives a reason not to, at least in personal relationships

Sweet I am not saying I am not respectful to others, especially when I first meet a person but at the same time I do not put down my guard until I know for sure they are the person they present themself to be and that is what I meant by earn my trust

How many Liberals have come to this site acting all nicey nicey and then BAM they start up their usual crap

"...its as stupid as strip searching an 80 year old arthritic man or woman while watching an arab just walk on by to board a plane!"

No, it is stupid to assume that vicious, murdering fanatics are above slipping a blade, boxcutter or odorless explosive on the person of an unsuspecting 80 year old. Ditto for broad accusations of watching an arab just walk on by. Gimme a break. The attacks that killed thousands of Americans on 9-11 were not the results of an impromtu, poorly thought out, lamebrained idea. They were carefully and precisely planned, flaws in the system were pinpointed and then used against us. Unlike its critics, airport security is a complex and complicated process. Even murdering, stoneage thugs like OSL understand that.

I remember hearing/reading a story about people being searched in Bosnia and one of the guards did not do a proper search of a baby a couple was carrying .. the Commander there stopped the couple and told the guard to search the baby .. they guard said at the time he thought his commander was being ridiculous but because it was an order he search the baby only to find a hand grenade in the baby's diaper

Yes I can understand that many of these searches seem ridiculous but we are also at war with people that want to kill as many Americans as possible ..

With that said .. I am also thinking there should be some kind of technology out there to make this an easier job

Right you are. The new proceedures aren't perfect by any means but it is a start. I have no doubt that good old American ingenuity will improve or develope better technology.... we always do. Until then we'll try lots of things that seem less than satisfactory. Eventually we'll find a safer way and one that doesn't erode our freedom or paralyze our economy.

Speaking of our economy.... have you bought anything new today ? I just bought a wedding gift and now I'm shopping for a graduation present. :) After that, I may just have to buy something pretty for Darlin'. LOL Who knew that doing our patriotic duty, a service for our country could be such fun ?

How many "last" tours does this make for them ?

Rolling Stones Announce World Tour

*Sigh* .... How sad. They're legendary, arguably one of the best Rock n Roll bands ever and should be remembered as such. Instead they've become a joke. The article says this time they'll do some club dates and IMHO that seems a much better venue for them at this point.

"Sincerely,
Someone Who Cares "

Oh, Good Grief ! Just what the world needs, another simple minded fool who thinks he's a non-conformist, a rebel. Pathetic. If terrorizing people in America's Heartland, creating havoc and straining the resources of local and national law enforcement agencies is an example of his caring, he can have it.
