Are you trying to suggest that the Founding Fathers were NOT aware that the flowers were smoked by people and used in ALL KINDS of apothecary preparations??
Bear in mind that marijuana was the MOST widely prescribed anaesthetic until the era of modern medicine...
The students at UVA are probably glad of that, too.
Val will never accept our point of view, because it is NOT Val's point of view. I have seen stubborn before, and Val fits the bill. (Plus, she is grappling with kiddies, so she has a VERY vested interest in this particular issue.)
Val, a proclamation by a President means very little. While I really like what George has to say here, it has no more value that one declaring August to be National Dairy Month, or whatever.
Seeing as how George was the President of the Continental Congress and a deputy from Virginia, and a signer of the Constitution itself, I believe you misjudge what George would or wouldn't be appalled at and what would be an abuse of 'freedom' or 'liberty'. The Founders gave fedgov VERY LITTLE POWER and it was spelled out with the rest being reserved to the States and the People!
The colonists had had enough of the 'do do this, don't do that' crap from the Crown in England. He would be s*****g little green apples to see what goes on in his Country with asset forfeiture, et al, with this WOD!
Aha! Just as I suspected! You DO own a mirror!
And I can see why you DON'T own a mirror, as you would be unable to see your reflection.
If fedgov can interdict because YOU don't want drugs, then they can interdict because .38sw don't like redheads; Mo doesn't like fatty foods; loddy don't like booze; Ringy doesn't like Catholics; Prentice don't like Baptists; Ratty don't like donuts; Nully don't like sex........
There's a lot lot in that litany I don't particularly care for, but the OVERRIDING issue is that fedgov shouldn't have a say in any of it....if they can interdict l, they can interdict all.
Its sort of like the slave taxation that Alan Keyes mentioned......if fedgov has the right to tax you at 10%, they have the right to tax you at 100%. And we know from past history that taxation rates have been up at what, 90%....we know dead people can pay 50 - 55% of their estates in taxes......hell, we can have excise taxes on phone calls to pay for a war that occured 104 years ago!
Call off the intervention... Val is obviously bogarting her kids' doobie.
But, parents need to realize they can't live the kids life.....they hav eto raise them the best way they know how, cross their fingers, and pray like hell.
But, truthfully, I have to question the concern when there's all the irateness, and yet a refusal to turn the kids or their friends in....that would prove to the kids you're serious.....but then the downside is that they would think you're a fink.....but surely there are mixed signals occuring.....so who can say.....
I know when my youngest was in high school, I was told by someone that she was smoking MJ at the bus stop when they arrived at school; that during lunch, she and her friends left the schoolgrounds and smoked joints; and that they smoked some before coming home.
I contacted the school officials to see if they were aware of these school drop off zones, was told it had just come to their attention, yada yada yada. I asked for and received permission to attend classes with my daughter.
When she arrived home, I told her I would be driving into school with her to make sure all was ok....but couldn't the first day. However, while I didn't drive us to school the first day, about 10 a.m., I did drive to school, and caught up with her in her PE class....I had brought a book to read, etc., and when class was over I watched in the locker room and then we walked to the next class together.....she was absolutely MORTIFIED {for one thing I came to school in levis, western shirt, hat, and shit kickers--not the typical Mom!!]
Before the end of the next class, I had received a pledge that things would be different. I never received word again that this was occuring, and the school district assured me there were monitors at all drop off and collection points.
As well you shouldn't.
But they OBVIOUSLY know that this 'Weed will kill you' nonsense, is indeed nonsense. And, since they do, every time you try and tell them that it is ruining their lives (and it very easily could, at their tender ages.), it is running directly counter to what they see with their own eyes.
While their rebellion is misdirected, with respect to drug use, I AM glad that kids DO still have a rebellious streak, and that the indoctrination at school hasn't been successful.
Are they continuing to get caught with it, or are you a supersleuth now that you have found out what they are up to?? If they keep getting caught, while other stoners don't, then it may be a thinly veiled plea for attention, or some other reason besides just wanting to be a head.
Where in the H*LL did you get that one?
He believes a lot like you.
