I don't know if I beieve all the accusations that LePen is a fascist - these same people would say that of Reagan, too. He is against immigration and the anti-Jew demonstrations in France are led by Muslims and Arabs who have been taking over Europe. He sounds more like Pat Buchanan than Adolph Hitler. The press sounds as hysterical there as here. The American press is more dangerous than Buchanan ever could or would be - though even some Freepers have believed the accusations.

Me too. The liberals now have no candidate. They will be forced to vote for the conservative candidate, Chirac, in order to keep Le Pen out. They are gonna do it, but they will hate it. Like people voting for Edwin Edwards in Louisiana to defeat David Duke.

I read the Economist, which is the Conservative British news magazine. They were solidly behind Thatcher, Reagan and Bush. At the same time they were calling Le Pen an Anti Semite and a fascist, starting 25 years ago. I have been reading the mag for 30 years and trust their opinion on European Politics.

Here is something else that is likely to infuriate you on this rainy Monday... It is pro-Israeli.

Yes, it does. Why should Israel get special treatment? They are just one more bunch of terrorists, like Hammas or the IRA.

I thought the whole point of the Bush Doctrine was to do away with the moral relativism of labeling our murderous friends as 'Freedom Fighters' and our murderous enemies as 'terrorists'.

I thought we were going to consider that conduct unacceptable by any faction, and add attacking civilian targets to Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Warfare as a forbidden tactic. I thought we had decided to destroy any State that used those tactics or supported individuals and groups which did so.

Maybe it makes sense to ally with Israel temporarily while we destroy the Islamic terrorists, but I don't understand why y'all don't see that we will eventually have to fight Israel, just as we will have to support the Brits in destroying both the IRA and the Ulster Protestant terrorists.

My friend Kevin Rooney made a gorgeous point the other day: Just reverse the numbers. Imagine five hundred million Jews and five million Arabs. I was stunned at the simple brilliance of it. Can anyone picture the Jews strapping belts of razor blades and dynamite to themselves? Of course not. Or marshalling every fiber and force at their disposal for generations to drive a tiny Arab state into the sea? Nonsense. Or dancing for joy at the murder of innocents? Impossible. Or spreading and believing horrible lies about the Arabs baking their bread with the blood of children? Disgusting.

In another article about him that I read, one of his personal friends described his 'racist' feelings like this.
