This reminds me of the old joke Harley riders used to tell about riding Japanese motorcycles.
Why is riding a ricegrinder like boffing a sheep?
It's fun until your friends see you doing it.

Well, I have noticed that conservative women are cuter, so it might be a moot point. I recall a DC friend, a liberal Democrat male, who admitted to me that the best looking girls were at the pro-life rallies. My own experience with kissing a liberal is that it is fun, but I wouldn't want to be married to one. Why? See first sentence above.

I don't even like neighbors who are liberals, so I can't imagine dating or being married to one! I don't have any respect for their beliefs, so that is the main reason I wouldn't find a liberal "attractive"........
I am totally baffled by the carville/Matlin thing....... I mean who in their right mind would have ever believed they would stay married this long? Is that girl blind or what?

Pro-life rallies, eh? Never thought of that before, hmmm...

Can a Conservative Date a Liberal? Of course. Then again a more logical question would be:
WHY would a Conservative WANT to date a Liberal?
To: SpyderTim
After having a roomie who was an Algore worshiping enviro-liberal, I know I could never date one. Despite all efforts to avoid political discussions, they are inevitable, as are the ensuing arguments. If I want that kind of aggravation, I'll watch Hannity and Colmes.

I am totally baffled by the carville/Matlin thing....... Maybe she likes Cajun cookin? That has to be it.

I KNEW there had to be a reason.......that one is as good as any........

Does "agreeing to disagree" actually work?
Based on experiences with my ex-wife, no.

What you have to realize about most self-proclaimed liberals is that they're all basically moderate conservatives who identify themselves as liberal because A) they're pro-choice and B) they're too willing to take the liberal media at face value. If you actually hammer out all of the points with said liberal, they will often be baffled to learn they are conservatives. Then again, if they can't get over that fact or if they're actually the real deal liberal, then it would never ever work.
To: chriservative
I think you're right on that. I can't stand real-deal liberals, so dating one is out. The moderate folks who will actually listen to a reasoned argument, however, are ok.

I had a relationship with a Canadian nationalist liberal which sort of worked.
Whenever we talked about politics, she would simply stop the discussion when I made a point good enough to make her her think.
Her biggest advantages:
- She had an extremely high IQ, which made her a lot of fun to talk to.
- She was nice to look at
- She had a fantastic sense of humour, although I found it very strange that she enjoyed Tom Tomorrow and Ted Rall's stuff, both of which is way too caustic for my taste.
Her biggest disadvantages:
- She cared about the collective of personkind, but consistently snubbed any individual person who she didn't think was perfect. This unpleasant characteristic seems to be strikingly common among liberals.
- Despite her collectivist beliefs, she was amazingly selfish and extremely expensive to have around.
Unfortunately, there are more liberal women than conservative ones; women are less individualistic than men. So you may have to compromise on a liberal woman if you want a woman at all. For that reason, I would not say that you should utterly refuse to take a liberal woman.
But it's certainly not an optimal situation, at least not in my case. We eventually parted ways, but stay in fairly frequent touch; it was not a messy, unfriendly breakup. We broke up primarily because she could not reconcile being a Canadian nationalist in the nest of evil that is suburban Los Angeles.

FWIW, Xena's Guy is going around telling all our friends that he's really a Democrat, just to irk me. (His reparations plan is a hoot.)

Politics and Dating: Can a Conservative Date a Liberal?I would say NO way; at least in my case. I wouldn't have dated/married my husband if he was a lib. For other people I'm sure it might work. Just look at Mary Matlin and James "The Spinner" Carville. Who'da thunk it.

I don't even like neighbors who are liberals,Touche!
Our neighbor down the street has a bumper sticker that reads: "When Women Vote DemocRATS Win."
I cringe everytime I see it.
The husband is kind of femmy too.
