Don't worry, it's been Monday all week. Besides, I have a good talent for blind navigation.

*And now for a chilling tale of horror called.. The In-Betweeners.*
It was his first vacation in a good long time, so he had plans for going somewhere. Anywhere. Didn't matter where to, he just wanted to get there. His wife suggested a little trip to the mall, a little bit of relaxing atmosphere.. the whole nine.
He wasn't sure it was a good idea.
The mall was crowded, but not unpleasantly so. The ambient buzz of sound morphed into a droning hypnotic lulling that made him feel slightly delerious. It wasn't long before they'd done some shopping, and he'd grabbed a choclate shake, that the crowd started to thin. It was getting late.
A young teen rudely bumped him from behind. He looked at the kid who shoved a second time.
"You got a problem, pops?" the kid mouthed.
"No, do you? There's lots of room for you to walk. No need to shove me." he went back to his shake. His wife was a couple yards away. The punk was rummaging in his pocket with one hand, somewhere a watch beeped. The kid was getting nervous and kept looking over his shoulder at someone. The man's napkin hit the floor.
As he bent to pick it up, the punk pulled out a smallish gun and screamed something he couldn't understand. It didn't initially register. He didn't understand.
Two quick pops made him flinch. He heard a scream. The floor greeted him with cold arms.
*Split* "huh?" *Split*
He opened his eyes. The crowds were gone. Only a handful of people stood nearby. Most of them were children, with a smattering of older people here and there.
"The new guys awake." said a little voice. He sat up and looked around.
"Where's my wife?" he asked.
A small child stepped in front of him, looked around, and stated simply, "You're not there anymore."
The man was starting to get upset. What was this? Last he knew, he was at the mall and some punk pulled a gun and.. Oh my God.
He jumped up and started shouting his wifes name, calling for help, calling for anyone. The small group walked up to him, telling him that he didn't understand, he had to calm down, he had to listen.
"Where is this? Where am I? Who are you people? Is this hell?"
The child looked at him with sad eyes, "You're in between."

The gun went off close by, very close. She swore she could feel the heat from it. She turned in time to watch her husband slump forward to the floor, the kid turned and ran as fast as he could. Sweatjacket flying in the breeze.
She heard a scream, and realized that she was screaming once her throat got sore. She screamed for help, for somone to do something. Largely, the crowd just parted and kept going. She cradled her husbands head in her lap. His face looked blank, almost like he was deep in thought.
"Don't leave me. Please, don't leave me."

hi westy
after I walked Lulu left-wing Helen called me on phone
so we could talk about our interview with Dennis
then we talked 'bout other stuff
she told me she bought a house
I told her how I went to court to get my property back
and was so happy it worked out for me
I bought my head off at mall for 4 months
and wound up with bouncy check problem
She told me she used to rent house on farm in Hawaii
(when she first moved there 2 years ago)
and her landlady, a farmer born in Hawaii
said that when she was a teenager and they were all riding motorcyles together
they actually saw a spaceship land
they were so scared they drove off right away

Hi dear, and a Good Friday to you today.Do you have any kind of tradition today, or just another day in your desert paradise? I'm going to read the posts a bit and get back to you in a bit :-)

helen and I are still stunned that linda thought Dennis was a pervert and hung up on him
he called helen before he called me
he was very formal with her at first, said ''I'm a professor''
and told her the topic of the book he is writing
I was so open and friendly with Dennis
that when he called Linda right after me, he treated her like old friend
''hi linda, how are you'' he said breezily when she answered the phone
I guess it would have been better if he had approached her in the same stuffy way he approached Helen
My memories weren't bad ones, but it was a time of confusion
I'm happiest living in the now
I'm ready to let the past evaporate

hi habs
I guess I'm sposed to eat matzos instead of bread today
but I forgot
and had a ham sandwich
I don't follow tradition :)
I went swimmin' and that was nice
I had a few more surprising upsets today
which at first seemed like last straw
but now I think it was the climax to everything
cause I feel washed clean and renewed
Did you go to church for Good Friday?
Are you havin' Easter Dinner at your mom's house?

Nope, no church for me, I ironed shirts instead. Is that enough penance for one day?;-)Yes, I will be having Easter Dinner at the folks and hope to have some lovely aspargus, lemon meringue pie and leg of garlicky, rosemary crusted lamb.At least, I hope:-)

So, when is LW Helen going to appear here? She ought to know that we won't beat her up, not even check her into the corners, give her a highstick...
