When I was little I was a bit of a tomboy. Davy Crockett was one of my heroes. I had a "coonskin" cap and and sang that song all the time.

A bit. At least I'm still posting as null and void, not dead and gone. I've got the rotten kids this weekend, and they are both sick, too...

"I've got the rotten kids this weekend, and they are both sick, too..." Rotten? Why? What did they do? Anyway, I'm sorry that everybody's sick. That's no fun at all!
To: sweetliberty
lol - I'm guessing most of us had the caps, some of the "rich" kids prolly even had the lunch box and maybe even the suit.
Did you have your Fanner50 cap pistols? Santa did very well by me on that Christmas morn. ;-)

Rotten? Why? What did they do? Nothing, just rotten on general principles...

"Did you have your Fanner50 cap pistols? " Darn it, no. I had the cheap Annie Oakley six shooters. I thought cap pistols were the coolest but I had a deprived childhood. Sometimes I got to play with the neighbor boys' cap pistols though. Hehehe...and I had the wildest stick horses in the neighborhood!

Okay, where is ringy? Did she get a digital camera yet? Where are the pictures?
To: null and void
"Nothing, just rotten on general principles..." Oh, in other words, normal kids. (As normal as kids in California are apt to be anyway).

I also got the Annie Oakley pistols (still have 'em) but I also had some kind of cap pistol, and I don't remember much about it. I was pretty young when I had it, and something tells me I didn't have it for very long - I drove my mom nuts. Of course, I would also unroll the the caps on the sidewalk and set them off with a hammer. bang bang!

*L* The cap pistols didn't last long, but hammers and sidewalks are forever!
To: .38sw
" I would also unroll the the caps on the sidewalk and set them off with a hammer" Now THAT I did do. We had a little corner store that had the rolls of caps. I guess that was our equivolent of bubble wrap in terms of mindless amusement.

There wasn't very good cap and hammer control laws in those days. Imagine, letting a child under the age of 18 buy a roll of caps. Those things are explosive. And having a hammer, why, I could've hit myself in the head with it, or hammered my fingers instead of the caps. There were no "safe hammer storage" laws nor "hammer locks" in those days. I'm lucky to have lived this long! What were my parents thinking?

I had a fake cowhide and fringe skirt and vest with fake conchos, and holsters with fake conchos for my Annie Oakley six-shooters, a little cowgirl hat and boots. I never got over it...
